TAMPA -- He's campaigning hard for support from Republican social conservatives, but presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Saturday he disagreed with the government's intervention in the Terri Schiavo case.
"I think it's probably best to leave these kinds of matters in the hands of the courts," Romney said in a television interview airing today.

Thanks a lot for restarting the Terri wars.
You've bashed Romney and now Jeb Bush.
Who else is on your hitlist for tonight?
I had mixed feelings about it. I think the courts was wrong but didn't like the govt involvement either. It's not a simple answer.
Article One
SECTION 2. Basic rights.--All natural persons, female and male alike, are equal before the law and have inalienable rights, among which are the right to enjoy and defend life and liberty, to pursue happiness, to be rewarded for industry, and to acquire, possess and protect property; except that the ownership, inheritance, disposition and possession of real property by aliens ineligible for citizenship may be regulated or prohibited by law. No person shall be deprived of any right because of race, religion, national origin, or physical disability.
If Mitt didn't want this out there, perhaps Mitt shouldn't have said it.
For a guy courting the right-wing, this was a bad, bad move.
The court IS government. But, you knew that, I bet.
"...our government's main job is PROTECTING EACH CITIZEN."
No, it's not.
I agree. It was nanny state BS at it's worst.
Ha. I'm surprised that he didn't catch the Schiavo wave and do some political Schiavo surfing (to coin a political phrase).
You call your self a conservative?
You're a liberal!
I count about 11 posts against him, 8 for and 3 any bodies guess. Definitely a hot potato. Who is he looking for votes from?
Romney and Bush are the poster boys for weak executives who are so brainwashed by the judicial supremacist myth that they will ignore their oath to uphold the constitution and let out-of-control judges destroy our most basic societal standards and even the very right to live of citizens.
WELL THAT WAS THE FLORIDA CONSTITUTION NOT THE FEDERAL CONSTITUTION!!!!!!!!!
Oh yes. Again. Thankfully, we do not have Big Brother's memory hole to erase inconvenient history.
LOL yeah I thought about that when I wrote my response but right now I'm wishing I had never opened this thread. I'm gonna go back and hide under my rock now.
The Big Government Conservatives strike again....
YES! All of the sudden Congress convenes, Bush flies in, why? All for the points they need. I want the government out of my life. I can best make decisions for me and my kin.
I'd say that Romney just destroyed himself.
He just lost every real christian in the country, of either party.
Let me clarify a bit more. It was a state's rights issue, not for the federales.
