Video shows aftermath of store owner shooting 2 robbery suspects

The Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA - A store owner shot two men who tried to rob him, killing one of them, in a confrontation that was partly recorded by a neighbor with a cell phone, police said.

The two men entered the North Philadelphia store at about 6:40 a.m. Thursday and announced a robbery, after which the owner and one of the men exchanged gunshots, said city police Sgt. Ron McClane.

A cell phone video shot by a nearby resident shows the aftermath outside the store, where the owner confronted one of the wounded robbers, police said. The video shows a man getting up and woozily trying to walk away and the owner, his gun drawn, pushing him to the ground.

A man in his 20s was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, said officer Yolanda Dawkins, a police spokeswoman. A man in his mid-20s was shot in the face and back and was taken to Einstein Medical Center, where he was in stable condition, she said.

LMAO!! Apparently the ads are on a rotisserie,...I even didn't think about it until you mentioned it, but the ad that I got was for therapeutic heating pads.

Can't remember the exact product, but I remember the product tag line: "Have heat will travel." I kid you NOT!!

I got a feeling NBC10 ain't taking ads from them.

Regardless, anybody that bought that ad space is probably getting a nice ROI. I'm quite certain that it is making the rounds via e-mails.

I sent the link to all my law and order friends and family.

That video is so much fun to watch! The store owner stands over the shot perp, who gets up and tries to make it to his car. The owner comes right back and hurls the perp to the pavement and stands over him, pistol still pointed. Meanwhile, the perp's partner lies dead inside the store.

Only regret is one of them is still alive. Hint to store owner:

.45 - apply directly to the forehead!
.45 - apply directly to the forehead!
.45 - apply directly to the forehead!

(No messy civil suits afterwards)

I loved that old Paladin series. I think Richard Boone was the lead. Have Gun, Will Travel.

Agreed.

Minus 1 point for violating Rule 2a. Two to the head is twice as effective as one to the head. Plus there is no additional paperwork for the double-tap.

Minus 2 points for violating Rule 23. Mr. Lee did not have a gun whose caliber started with a 4. This is infered from the fact that one perp lived.

All in all, though, nice work Mr. Lee.

Don't apologize. Don't feel sorry.

It is a fact of life that some men, and women, simply need killing. From the baby rapers to the violent strong who prey on the weak to the ruthless heads of state who wage war and force conflict on their neighbors.

God spoke and gave the commandments to Moses whereupon He said it was against His laws to murder, not "kill".

The Philly perps practically asked to be dealt with in deadly fashion.

Good for the shopkeeper. May his business thrive.

Here is a comment from a typically stupid lib who crowbars in all the lib buzz-words and worldly guilt he can squeeze into a nothing response:

-- -- -- --

"gordan (March 10, 2007 03:03 PM)

I believe that the boys were wrong for trying to rob the store owner, but I also believe that the store owner is not telling the truth about the whole incident. First of all who shots someone in the head when he stated himself that the boy had the gun to the cashier head. I feel sorry about the whole incident, and for the family, and to think that we as a people have gotten so cold, if God would take punishment on us as soon as we do something wrong, NONE of us would be here. Think about it, my prayers are for the world as a whole, and I believe that that it is Tragedy."

Am I the only one that noticed that the shooter's ethnicity was mentioned, but not that of the perps?

When I lived in Queens, I noticed that Marionite (Christian) Lebanese immigrant store owners were also enthusiastic supporters of the IInd. Greatly to the benefit of society, also.

I understand what you are trying to say and appreciate it. You are correct in your understanding of the prohibition against "murder" in the 10 Commandments. However, while sometimes the taking of life is "necessary", as that of a violent criminal or in warfare, we should never "enjoy" or get "satisfaction" from doing so. To enjoy it doesn't please God (read the last few verses of Jonah in the O.T. as an example). Of course, we shouldn't be riddled with guilt either. Taking life to protect innocent life is not wrong, it is correct and, I believe, God sanctioned.

A solid principle to inculcate is that "life can only legally be taken to protect innocent life in immediate danger." A theft, in of itself, does not justify the use of deadly force by the victum or others. Only if the life of the victim or others are threatened can life be legally terminated by a citizen. As an example, if that same store owner saw some punk grab a sixpack of beer and flee on foot out the door without paying, the owner would not be justified shooting him in the back as he fled (the theft of a sixpack does not justify a homocide). However, if the snatcher was obviously brandishing a weapon so that a reasonable person would feel intimidated (meaning in fear of his life), the use of deadly force is acceptable by the store owner. However, chasing him after he has left the premise and gunning him down is not considered justifiable for a citizen. If there is no immediate threat still present, homocide is not justified.

BTW - I strongly believe in the "right to carry" and have done so where legal and I felt there was a potential danger. However, I found carrying a concealed pistol to be sobering and a great responsibility - not a privilege.

I think it was Mark Twain that said, "An armed society is a polite one."

I like these guys who take common American names.

Just about everyone in South Korea is surnamed Park (Pak) or Lee (Yi).

Okay, that's an exaggeration. But not by much.

But the "Jason" is a nice American touch.

A real shame. A future plaintiff, or perp, or both. The NRA should have special target practice classes for Korean shop owners.
