Two thousand miles from the noise and rancor of Washington, D.C., an adobe home on a quiet hilltop overlooking Santa Fe awaits Valerie Plame and Joseph Wilson.
America's best-known previously undercover CIA operative and her former ambassador husband purchased the 4,609-square-foot home late last year, according to Santa Fe County Clerk records.
Nestled in piñons and aspens on a hillside off Hyde Park Road, the three-bedroom house, featured in a 2003 real estate magazine, was reported to have 11 fireplaces, a guesthouse and patios that look out on the Jemez Mountains.
Perhaps fittingly for a former spy, the front door comes with a postigo, a small wooden peek door.
"We are moving to a beautiful part of the country where the pace is less hectic and the political environment less toxic than Washington," Wilson said in an e-mail interview with the Journal.
The couple have been in the eye of a political storm since mid-2003, when Wilson accused the Bush administration of distorting prewar intelligence on Iraq.
Later, Plame's covert CIA identity was leaked to reporters, which critics called a retaliatory strike by the White House against her husband.
On Tuesday, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was convicted of lying to a grand jury and to FBI agents investigating the disclosure.
A day later, Wilson was packing moving crates in his Washington home ahead of his family's move to New Mexico, the New York Times reported. Wilson had confirmed in December that the couple planned to relocate to Santa Fe.
The couple purchased the home, which carries a $1.1 million mortgage, through their limited liability company, Enchanted Sunset, according to records.
Wilson, who is a consultant, has been preparing for .......

they "outed" their new home!!!!
The House has 11 fireplaces and is covert,no its not, yes it is..... no its classified, covert, classified....
Perfidy pays, apparently.
They have a website where sympathizers can donate to a fund to help them sue for damages. If they win they'll have plenty of money to pay for the mortgage. In any case they already seem to be living the lifestyle of the rich & famous. Wilson has already been kind enough to show us his car and his cuff links.
If there is not at least one lawyer in America, who can come up with substantial justification to sue Wilson or his wife into the poverty they so justly deserve -- then my disdain for lawyers is justified.
We can alway hope that a diamondback or scorpion finds their way to pretty Joe..

So, the the license plate on the new car read "Spy 1"?
Lying pays.
..the three-bedroom house, featured in a 2003 real estate magazine, was reported to have 11 fireplaces,..
How the heck do you get 11 fireplaces into a three-bedroom house?
OK say you have a fire place in each of the 3 bedrooms, 1 formal living room, 1 family room, 1 library, 1 office, 1 kitchen, 1 dining room, - thats 9. Are there fireplaces in the bathrooms too?
Call Al Gore now because thats a lot of carbon burning and enough to melt a few glaciers.
Maybe they need all the fireplaces to burn sensitive documents.
Maybe when they get out West they can get twin Jaguars, with SPY-1 and SPY-2 plates.
ROFL!!
Enchanted Sunset, eh?
From what I have heard about Sante Fe, they will probably be welcomed with open arms there.
Add guest house and patio
I would rather they moved to Siberia. I wish I had the power to make it so.
Sante Fe is a lovely area.
I bet it's a nice house but I wouldn't want a $1.1 million mortgage.
People have outdoor fireplaces now as well.
