Researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute have discovered what likely triggered the eruption of a "supervolcano" that coated much of the western half of the United States with ash fallout 760,000 years ago.
Using a new technique developed at Rensselaer, the team determined that there was a massive injection of hot magma underneath the surface of what is now the Long Valley Caldera in California some time within 100 years of the gigantic volcano’s eruption. The findings suggest that this introduction of hot melt led to the immense eruption that formed one of the world’s largest volcanic craters or calderas.
The research, which is featured in the March 2007 edition of the journal Geology, sheds light on what causes these large-scale, explosive eruptions, and it could help geologists develop methods to predict such eruptions in the future, according to David Wark, research professor of earth and environmental sciences at Rensselaer and lead author of the paper.
The 20-mile-long Long Valley Caldera was created when the supervolcano erupted. The geologists focused their efforts on Bishop Tuff, an expanse of rock that was built up as the hot ash cooled following the eruption. The researchers studied the distribution of titanium in quartz crystals in samples taken from Bishop Tuff.
A team from Rensselaer previously discovered that trace levels of titanium can be analyzed to determine the temperature at which the quartz crystallized. By monitoring titanium, Wark and his colleagues confirmed that the outer rims of the quartz had formed at a much hotter temperature than the crystal interiors. The researchers concluded that after the interiors of the quartz crystals had grown, the magma system was "recharged" with an injection of fresh, hot melt. This caused the quartz to partly dissolve, before starting to crystallize again at a much higher temperature.

About 4 years ago a Richter 5 hit the pluton below Yellowstone. Long dormant geysers are coming back to life again, big time. Yellowstone Lake is being rapidly pushed out of its bed, to the south. The land is rising by (measured)millimeters month by month.
Yellowstone erupts every 600,000 years on the average, and it's been 630,000 years since the last major eruption, although there have been some 30 minor eruptions in the interval. So it's looking more and more like a NATURAL nuclear winter will not only cover the midwest bread basket with ash, but take out 99+% of the human race as well.
This has happened before of course. The tabu(sp?)supervolcano in indonesia 74,000 years ago almost completely wiped out homo sapien, it shows up in our mitochrondial DNA : between 70,000 and 80,000 years ago the population was reduced to just 200-400 individuals(it was that close to extinction for us).

I was watching a show about the Yellowstone supervolcano once, though, and I remember one scientist saying that it was unlikely to ever happen again with the same magnitude because the area of magma under Yellowstone has been moving for years, albeit slowly, and will be partly under the mountains after a while, and will be less likely to erupt with the same force because it won't be under a relatively thinner area of crust. Don't know, but it sounds plausible.
We were at Yellowstone back in 2003, when they had to close some areas because they were overheating. The map of the park shows, with a dotted line, the outline of the caldera, but you don't need that to know when you've crossed the line. The land changes, and you see what looks like chalky or salty areas along with the fumeroles continually bleeding steam into the air above ground. It is truly a sight to behold!
That picture is a very good graphic display of what a super volcano is compared to a "regular" volcano.

Do you remember the Mount Saint Helens eruption in 1980? That shut down the Pacific NorthWest for 7-10 days, remember it well. These things HAPPEN, the question is the RATE, how MUCH volcanic dust is injected into the stratosphere for it to subsequently settle out over the ensuing 3-4 years. Do you remember the golden/yellow hue of the atmosphere after the Mount Pinatubo eruption?
Yellowstone is showing all the signs of an eruption with the increased activity and rising land/earthquakes. All it takes is a crack from the surface to the pluton magma chamber 5 miles down....is this the "wormwood" mentioned in the book of revelation, and the subsequent three and a half years of nuclear winter darkness that follows.

Could be. Ironically one of the guys in our singing group on waikiki beach was Yoshi from Kobe, a real super guy. It's scary that we are developing technology like the scalar beam weapon and it finds its way into criminal hands, the co-ordinated attack of 911 being a prime example.
As you read up on this on the cheniere.org website you can then download satellite photos and SEE the carpenter's square(L shaped)clouds that indicate this SBW in action.
So what to do? The US trying to defend, as the world cop, everyone everywhere...or a satanic world wide police state...or a UN that is more than oil-for-food crooks taking bribes, a REAL democratic organization...or Jesus returning to WHACK the bad guys...what's the answer?
