Shattering 3 Myths About Liberals
Townhall.com ^ | March 9, 2007 | John Hawkins

Posted on 03/09/2007 2:42:08 PM PST by Caleb1411

1) Conservatives are more racist than liberals.Although you will find racists on the left and the right, the left is much more racist on the whole. That's why we still have to create majority black districts in order to get significant numbers of black Americans elected to Congress -- because even though blacks vote overwhelmingly for the Democratic Party, a large percentage of white liberals won't return the favor and vote for black candidates running on the Democratic ticket. According to a study at Yale, "(W)hite Republicans nationally are 25 percentage points more likely on average to vote for the Democratic senatorial candidate when the GOP hopeful is black...In House races, white Democrats are 38 percentage points less likely to vote Democratic if their candidate is black." That 25% of Republicans has nothing to be proud of, but as you can see, the Democrats are far worse.

Meanwhile, another study from a professor at Stanford showed that Democrats were prejudiced about whom they chose to donate money to after Katrina,

"But for Democrats, race mattered -- and in a disturbing way. Overall, Democrats were willing to give whites about $1,500 more than they chose to give to a black or other minority....(While Republican) responses to the assistance questions are relatively invariant across the different media conditions. Independents and Democrats, on the other hand, are more likely to be affected by racial cues."

No big surprise there. Republicans were formed as an anti-slavery party and they believe in a colorblind society, while Democrats supported slavery and were the ones turning water hoses and dogs on black protestors in the sixties. Remember George Wallace? Democrat. Bull Connor? Democrat. But, what about the revolutionary Civil Rights Act of 1964? 82% of Republicans in the Senate voted for it while only 64% of Democrats did. Even today, the driving force behind policies like Affirmative Action is the liberal belief that American blacks are too inferior to make it in America without help from the left. That's why it's too bad so many black Americans have bought into the liberal propaganda about conservatives hating black people. Neither the left nor the right has a monopoly on bigots, but far more of them are on the left than the right.

2) Liberals are more compassionate than conservatives. Just as robbing Peter to pay Paul isn't compassion, taking tax dollars from one person and giving that money to another isn't compassion either. Giving your own time and your own money to help other people? That's real compassion and liberals just don't measure up to conservatives in that area,

It turns out that this idea that liberals give more…is a myth. Of the top 25 states where people give an above average percent of their income, 24 were red states in the last presidential election.

Arthur Brooks, the author of "Who Really Cares," says that "when you look at the data, it turns out the conservatives give about 30 percent more." He adds, "And incidentally, conservative-headed families make slightly less money."

And he says the differences in giving goes beyond money, pointing out that conservatives are 18 percent more likely to donate blood.

3) Liberalism is the ideology of science. It has been said that if we ever have fascism here in America, it will be called anti-fascism. Similarly, it's liberals who politicize science to fit their ideological goals and then declare that their opponents are the ones who have rejected reason. Let's take a look at the two most prominent examples.

The first is stem cell research. The truth is that adult stem cells are far more promising than embryonic stem cells as a potential cure for disease. While adult stem cells have already been used to cure a significant number of diseases, embryonic stem cells haven't even made it to their first human trial yet. That's why there is such a push to acquire taxpayer funds -- because private companies don't think embryonic stem cells are worth the investment.

But, because the left can dupe desperate people like Michael J. Fox into accusing conservatives of withholding a cure from them for religious reasons, they're willing to keep pushing embryonic stem cells for the sake of politics, even though taxpayer money would be much better spent on adult stem cell research. Sure, there are conservatives who have objections to embryonic stem cells on religious grounds, but isn't the fact that embryonic stem cells don't merit taxpayer funding in the first place a much bigger issue?

Then, of course, there's global warming. The earth has always been warming and cooling and because of our limited understanding of the climate, we don't fully understand why. Moreover, our best scientists can't accurately forecast what the weather is going to be like a few months from now, or for that matter, next Friday, yet we have global warming alarmists making wild, absolutely unprovable predictions about what the temperature of the planet will be like in fifty to a hundred years. Additionally, they claim to be certain that mankind is responsible for the one degree temperature increase we've seen over the last century, even though from roughly 1940 to 1975, as man was pumping larger and larger amounts of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere, the planet was cooling, not warming. As if all that wasn't enough, honest environmentalists will admit that even if man is responsible for global warming, there is no realistic way, with our current technology, to cut our greenhouse gasses enough to make a difference. Let me also add that there is a scientific theory that adequately explains the small increase in temperature we've had over the last century much better than anything Al Gore has ever come up with: that being, the sun, not man is primarily responsible (see here and here for more details).

When people point out all the flaws in the liberal "reasoning" about global warming, the response is almost inevitably an attempt to cut off debate. Scientists who fail to toe the liberal line have their reputations smeared and are compared to Holocaust Deniers.

Moreover, global warming alarmists continually try to claim that there should be more discussion of whether man causes global warming because "consensus" on the issue has been reached in the scientific community. This is despite the fact that there are more than 17,100 scientists who say that,

"There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate."

Why is the left so hellbent on proving that mankind is responsible for global warming, if the facts don’t seem to point in that direction? Because it's a great way for them to attack big business, particularly oil and a wonderful excuse to raise taxes. Additionally, because America has the world's biggest economy, we'd be heavily damaged by ridiculous treaties like Kyoto and the opportunity to punish America for being so successful is a big motivator for the left. So, as you see, it is liberals, not conservatives, who are disregarding science in order to further their political concerns.

It is sadly funny to listen to a dem bash republicans in one breath, and then spout off racial slurs that would get a Conservative lynched with the next. I hear it all of the time. They talk about the "Neeeeee-grooooes" around white people, and then kiss up to blacks when they want their vote. Unfortunately, blacks do not know or care just how racist their party is.

White racists are a large part of the Republican coalition. It is essentially made up of said racists, religious conservatives, libertarians, and the country club/RINO crowd. White racists don't vote Democrat because they see it as the party of blacks, although they'll switch in a heartbeat to vote against a Republican of color (Bobby Jindal) or keep Kleagle Byrd in office. Those statistics about voting less for black Democrats among white Democrats doesn't take into account legitimate reasons to not vote for those candidates (Cynthia McKinney, Kweisi Mfume, William Jefferson).

If you think Jindal lost that Louisiana governors race on merit, you're screwy beyond belief. Online, you can look at the election results by parish and compare them to past Republican performance in gubernatorial or presidential races, especially in conservative Republican northern parishes where Jindal badly underperformed.

#1 -- prejudice of all sorts is prevalent across party lines, but (regretfully) the particular prejudice of a conscious belief in other races' inferiority is an ill more of Republicans than of Democrats. But the more important point is that even racial prejudice really matters at the level of consequence, not sentiment, and there, Republicans can hold their heads high. Democrats have caused far more misery for African Americans with their institutional opposition to law and order policies, welfare reform and public school choice than a few Republicans with confederate flags flying on their portch could ever hope to inflict.

#2 -- is contentious, because it includes contributions to one's own church, most of which are used to maintain the church's internal operations. Liberals are far less likely to be regular churchgoers. If you want to include basic congregational contributions, to make sense you also have to include the liberal political and cultural spending (political donations don't count as charity, nor do art-house movie tickets) that fill the same place in their lives that church does for many conservatives.

#3 -- Professional scientists in this country are overwhelmingly liberal, and professional anti-scientists (creationists, etc.) overwhelmingly identify as conservative. That doesn't make liberalism right, or wrong, it's just a fact. The suggestion that embryonic stem cells are not attractive to private sector science are, quite simply, ridiculous. What is holding up investment in embryotic stem cells is fear that conservatives will legislatively destroy those investments. No one would invest in ANY technology if there was risk the government might ban it altogether, effectively ban it by refusing regulatory approval, or economically ban it by making it impossible to patent inventions. Active research in adult stem cells in no way, shape or form can be interpreted as evidence that embryotic stem cells lack, or are commonly perceived to lack, scientific or profit potential.

What a great statement. I've been saying the same thing for years in a different way. My wife and kids are Hispanic - and require no handouts to do well in life. The bias of race-driven financial aid for school, affirmative action - these things are simply saying that, "if you're not white - you're too dumb to be successful without the help of the government."

1. conscious belief in other races' inferiority is an ill more of Republicans than of Democrats

Which explains why the Republicans had a black senatorial candidate in Maryland and the Democrats didn't (and historically have never despite the high black population). And why that candidate was depicted as a minstrel Uncle Tom and had oreos thrown at him. It also explains why a black supreme court nominee was sexually smeared live on TV.

Liberals pervasive guilt leads them to approve of race mongering like this....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In his New York Sun column, John P. Avlon quoted the Rev. Jesse Jackson, preaching/speechifying in the Riverside Church. "Whose god is God?" said Jackson. "There is a profound theological debate in our nation tonight about the nature and character of God. . . . Today the Congress reconvenes to save a woman — Terri Schiavo — from starving to death, but then votes to starve millions every day. Whose god is God? They fight to save the fetus, and then starve the babies. Whose god is God?"
Reported Avlon, "Enthusiastic applause rolled through the pews . . ." No doubt, no doubt.
Jackson further said, "There is a fascist attack on civil rights and civil liberties. We cannot be silent."
Consider his words, just for a moment: Congress "votes to starve millions every day." And "there is a fascist attack on civil rights..." I will repeat what I, and others, have said before: that the position of Jesse Jackson in American life owes something to racism. To white liberal racism. If this nutcase and charlatan were white, he'd be ignored, scorned, or pitied. Instead, he is an honored Democrat. There will never be a convention, so long as he's alive, at which he won't speak.
http://www.nationalreview.com/impromptus/impromptus200503280731.asp
More? Senator Byrd (D, WVA) "white nigger".
Liberals control all the major metropolitan areas, what explains the continued descent of the black innercity other than the pervasive exploitation of their "consituents" by liberal politicians? But we really enjoyed your liberal onanistic viewpoint.
3. What is holding up investment in embryotic stem cells is fear that conservatives will legislatively destroy those investments. No one would invest in ANY technology if there was risk the government might ban it altogether,
False. Venture capitalists would weigh that risk and if the rewards were there the money would flow. Besides, you had 8 glorious years of Bill Clinton's presidency to establish this technology.
Meanwhile the science moves on..
Adult stem cells cure and treat more than 70 diseases and are involved in almost 1,300 human clinical trials. Scientists also keep discovering that adult stem cells are capable of creating a wider variety of mature cells.
Non-embryonic stem cell researchers are already performing miracles, such as growing new heart and liver tissue and treating multiple sclerosis – all in living humans. Yet they struggle to get federal funds for their research.
You're overlooking the fact that Blanco ran a blatantly racist campaign in those northern parishes, making Jindal look like some illegal immigrant from India. He's running again this year, and this time, he's going to destroy her.
I hope you are right. LA politics and policies affect my state since thousands of NOLA citizens have been fleeing that state/city for that past decade and invading us here.
As the performance of the Dem Governor and Dem NOLA Mayor demonstrated in the aftermath of Katrina, adults need to be in charge in LA.
Oh I agree it was racism but if you look at the Parishes and talk to some of the individuals in those Parishes as I have it was Catholic Dems. that frequently cross-over who stayed home or went Blank One. It was not Republicans in Parishes like Jefferson Parish.
Yeah, but your wife married a white guy, which kind of throws that argument off statistically. Can you demonstrate whether she'd have done as well if she hadn't married you?
Hitler's philosophy regarding lying:
"Keeping your enemy off balance through the use of disinformation is a well developed tactic used to ‘soften up’ an opponent.
Circa: 1930s
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. This technique, perfected by the Nazis, consisted of telling a lie so colossal that no one would believe anyone could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Added to other disinformation propaganda, this led Hitler to create his set of disinformation rules.
Never admit a fault or wrong
Never concede that there may be some good in your enemy
Never leave room for alternatives
Never accept blame
Blame your enemy for everything that goes wrong
People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one
And if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it."
Overall, this was a good article.
Liberals are racist facists, who push abortion where their minority voters live in poverty created and maintained by poor education.
Liberals are very willing to donate our money (taxes) to their liberal causes. They often are very tight when it comes to supporting a real charity not one of their pseudo non profits as shown by the link below:
Who is More Generous: Liberals or Conservatives?
Syracuse University professor Arthur C. Brooks is about to become the darling of the religious right wing in America — and it’s making him nervous.
The child of academics, raised in a liberal household and educated in the liberal arts, Brooks has written a book that concludes religious conservatives donate far more money than secular liberals to all sorts of charitable activities, irrespective of income.
In the book, to be released next month, he cites extensive data analysis to demonstrate that values advocated by conservatives — from church attendance to two-parent families to the Protestant work ethic and a distaste for government-funded social services — make conservatives more generous than liberals."
Often in our church, the hardest working and biggest sharers of their time, talent and treasure were/are the conservatives.
Liberals lie in order to advance their agenda. Liberals value equality more than freedom. Liberals think the world is always in need of being saved by them so they invent scare stories to validate their role and give themselves the excuse to do what they'd do all along. When you get these three points, you understand everything you ever thought you needed to know about liberals.
I will assume that your comment was intended as sarcasm. But, since you ask, I will respond.
She refused all race-based financial aid in college and listed "American" as her race on her college entrance exams. She graduated from college with a 4.0 average, completed graduate school with a 4.0 average and is a practicing psychologist.
I'm sure me being white had a great deal to do with it...not.
