One of the major differences between liberals and conservatives is that liberals are much more susceptible to group think. Most on the left are content to accept the prevailing leftist talking points as their own without questioning any of the intellectual underpinnings of said argument. (Think global warming..)
Conservatives, on the other hand, are more likely to rely on the substance and facts of a debate instead of drawing their conclusions based on 'consensus' and 'feelings'. At least that used to be so.
Enter Ann Coulter.

The DIMS have given a whole new meaning to down and dirty. they have vilified and bashed Bush unceaseingly and hen go ballistic when Coulter allludes to their behavior.
Her statement wasn't about Edwards proclivities but about the Politically Correct environment where Freedom of Speech is denied anyone who vents!
Go Ann I support you!
>>I support her without condition.. no matter what she says no matter how she says it. Without hearing what she says and without knowing the context in which it was said, I would support her at any time in anything! <<
Okely dokely.
Someone please explain to me in what sense that "joke" was supposed to be funny?
I have been a big fan of Ann's since the day I first saw her on cable during the Clinton scandal. And I think it wasn't the right venue for the remark, though to me almost anywhere would be the wrong venue for the remark, some places more than others.
I have responded to these threads with my honest opinion about it because it was such a hot topic for discussion. But frankly, I do wish the right would have kept quiet about it and not have assisted the left in their dirty work.
The left can make a sneeze coming from a conservative seem like a horrible deed.
Oh, but she uttered the "F" word and all the "conservatives" on FR are in a tither about it. Look, a lot of us on the forum don't seem to understand there are subversives on this very site.
They're here and you can bank on that. Does anyone think about what the subversive TROLLS would say about any of this Ann/Edwards/faggot thing? THats right. They "voted for Bush...twice, they support her right to say it, but she is just in in for herself...is a media hound"...and anything else that disprupts the forum and gets REAL conservatives fighting amoungst themselves, just like you see on this very thread. But you apparently get it Young'un.
The litmus test for conservatism now is whether you criticize or applaud Ann Coulter's joke.
I see.
" I draw the line with the use of vulgarity,"
It wasn't used as vulgarity and that's the point Ann was trying to make
Coulter is a disgrace. Using the term she used & in the way she used it is a awful.
There are plenty of very good conservative journalists and critics out there. Articulate people with reasoned ideas that don't resort to gutter nonsense. Bob Novak, Peggy Noonan and David Brooks instantly come to mind. As to people like Bill Kristol, Bill Buckley and Pat Buchanan. These people have real ideas that mean something to true conservatives.
Coulter brand of made for tabloid politics is the equivalent of political porn. It is nasty. I suspect it plays well with 19 year old boys at the fraternity house.
>>Fact is that it is a Rohrshach test to see where you fit in the political spectrum. Defend Ann, and you're on the right, condemn her, and you're not. Simple as that.<<
That is absolutely hilarious in its absurdity. Michelle Malkin is a big lefty (for example).
LOL
why should we support a name caller?
She doesn't speak her mind. She only says mean things that generate publicity. To be sure, she took her whack at some 9/11 widows not because she had suffered any loss in that tragedy or an ounce of real hardship in her life. She wanted to cause them pain by ridiculing their grief for their husbands. A husband -- a love for a man Ann apparently has no ability to fathom. Then, she took extreme glee at the pain her remarks inflicted on these widows.
Flame-throwing shrews like Ann that are so high school.
Tell Ann to get out of the girls room, get her butt back to algebra class and to stop passing notes about the student body president.
She does our conservative cause no honor.
Thank you, I understand Anne's point. But I disagree with you. The word itself is vulgar.
Thank-you. That was my point exactly
No, the litmus test is that "conservatives" go way out of their way and go through all sorts of justifications and gyrations to explain why Ann's remarks (say it with a slight upturned nose and an all-knowing countenance) "just aren't proper."
We're either conservatives and base our thoughts and actions on substance, or we fret and wither when things aren't "proper" and fit for a church service, like the liberals do, selectively. It makes me sick.
LOL
You're funny.
"Someone please explain to me in what sense that "joke" was supposed to be funny?"
It was poking fun at the fact that one has to enter rehab these days if they dare to utter that word. That was the point and unfortunately we've gotten so used to letting the left tell us what is and is not appropriate that even conservatives toed the line and condemned her lousy joke.
It would probably have been better if Ann hadn't put it quite like that, but puhleeze...I'm sure the widows were crying all the way to the bank. They obscenely used the tragedy to promote themselves.
On the other hand, would the press have given the conference more than a sound bite if she didn't say this?
--I have no problem with standing up for her-nor for my practise of referring to the political party of criminals, cheats, thieves and traitors as the "Demotraitors"---
I stand by Ann Coulter. Sometimes I disagree with her, but I still stand by her. She is so bright and forceful, and we need people such as she is. And if he is not one of those bundles of twigs, who is?
Ann was not being vulgar. She was being real and colloquial. It does not bother me at all and it was just an opportunity for the gay-pander left to harp on one of their most notable and correct critics. That is all it was and she has my full support and kudos for calling a "spade a spade"...it fit and it was applied. Good for her.
All excellent points. One can easily see by the anti-AC boilerplate on this thread; the antis didn't take the time to read the article before making their navel-gazing public.
