Those are all Katrina Live Threads.
The links to all the Katrina Live threads with dates are at the end of my profile page.
"NO is STILL a huge mess, especially in the ninth ward and other poor parts of town"
NO has been a huge mess for years and years. How does this area compare to the areas of Alabama and Mississippi that were hit by Katrina?
What are those poor unemployed folks doing to help themselves?

Live Thread - Hurricane Katrina, Part IV (Update: Now a Category 5 )
That is exactly right! The reporter from CNN, Solidad Obrien (sp?) had a transcript with her asking Nagin questions and Nagin said that he, Blanco, and Bush were on Air Force 1 and Bush asked Blanco to bring in the troops and Blanco said she needed 24 hours to think about it. I believe this was on a Tuesday.
An interesting question. I'll tell you more when I get home from work...

I think that this mess was probably due to keeping so many people on welfare in one dangerous spot and letting them make the decision to leave or not. In Texas, if they (state leaders) tell you to get out of a dangerous area, you do not question them, you just get the f out, by foot if you have no other choice. The banks of buses unused speaks loudly of the local governments lack of planning. Look at other states handling natural disasters. Nothing like NO with their blaming the federal government. I totally agree with you!
Mushy liberal pea brains is an excellent analogy!
Following Katrina in real-time on FR was an amazing experience: the warnings, NWS call to evacuate, Bush's call to Nagin, the roll-call of Gulf Coast Freepers, the parked buses, the breaking of the levees, and the aftermath.
Those idiots Shep Smith and Geraldo and Anderson Cooper would have known more about the storm and who was to blame for the evacuation debacle if they'd been on FR. Instead, they just stood in front of the Superdome whining and yelling.
NautiNurse, thank you again for the endless hours you spent maintaining those threads.
I would suggest NOLA
