Rep. Peter King Endorses Giuliani

Rep. Peter King Endorses Giuliani

Rep. Peter King (R-NY), former Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, has endorsed former Mayor Rudy Giuliani for President in 2008, according to the New York Daily News.

This is newsworthy because King co-chaired Sen. John McCain's New York campaign in 2000.

FROM THE NY DAILY NEWS:

Rudy Giuliani has wooed Rep. Peter King away from Sen. John McCain. King co-chaired McCain's New York campaign in the 2000 White House race, but the Long Island congressman says he'll now be lining up other House members for Giuliani. The ranking Republican on the Homeland Security Committee tells us he thinks Giuliani is "best qualified to fight terrorism." Giuliani and King got to know each other while serving as summer legal interns. "We'd both ride the Long Island Rail Road into Manhattan," recalls King. "Last Friday, we took Amtrak down to D.C. for a conservative conference. I said to myself, 'Forty years later, and I'm still riding the train with Rudy."

It's useless trying to convince them, Mom...one night I went on for hours debating how my carrying a gun in my purse on the 6 train would not stop a terrorist from blowing up the NYC subway system. (Beside the fact that the idea of me carrying a gun anywhere leaves me hysterically laughing.)

Excerpt:

The Convention started Thursday April 27th with grassroots training of Log Cabin chapter leaders from around the nation. Later in the day, Log Cabin's lobby day included meetings with key members of Congress. Log Cabin members met with Senator John Warner (R-VA), Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, Congressman Peter King (R-NY), Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, Congressman Wayne Gilchrest (R-MD), and Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-OH), among many others. Log Cabin members also received a briefing from Jo Anne Barnhart, the U.S. Commissioner of Social Security.

Peter King is just another Log Cabin Republican.

Where you are aware of it or not, the Log Cabin Republicans were invited and attended CPAC! Look like all the candidates were courting the Log Cabin Republicans as well as everyone else there.

Just got home a while ago. Has King been called a treasonous liberal yet? He hasn't arrived until he's been called that :-) Oh, and the new one is: He must be an abortionist.

Psssst...Peach, I also hear Pete King is particularly fond of black fishnets and red patent leather pumps.

Log Cabin's are NOT republicans. They are funded with the Rainbow Network monies David Mixner set up.

Of Course they were at CPAC. Soros took care of that!

King should stay out of the Presidentiial campaign and worry about representing his own district for now.

The Dems will go after him with everything they've got in 2008. Mejias was a weak candidate, but that's a very dangerous district for any Republican these days. Long Island is not a healthy place to be. He'll be gone after 2010, assuming the Dems take the Senate, given pending redistricting.

Don't be silly. King represents innermost Nassau County, right next to Queens. For him not to endorse Rudy would be very very strange, past performance notwithstanding. Half of his constituents probably voted for Giuliani, before Bloomberg chased them to the suburbs.

Before you post check your facts.

Peter King is my congressman, representing eastern Nassau County, not even close to Queens.

Gotcha....I read it as some speaker from the Drug Free America Foundation bowed out because of the link to Soros. Didn't take it as CPAC had a link

This is the FULL sentence of that sentence you were reading:

Calvina Fay of the Drug Free America Foundation has pulled out as a speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), which begins in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, because a “mini-debate” she was scheduled to appear in had been stacked against her. As it now stands, the event will feature two advocates of drug legalization, both of them funded by leftist billionaire and anti-Bush activist George Soros.
