BILL O'REILLY A journalistic cover-up (former president of the ACLU child porn}
Union Sentinel ^ | March 8, 2007 | Bill O'Reilly

In the summer of 2003, Operator Predator was launched by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency. The investigation has targeted individuals who make and consume child pornography worldwide. Because much of this stuff is manufactured overseas and shipped to America, ICE agents took the lead in tracking down the bad guys in the USA.

In case you don't know, child pornography features children from infants on up being raped in a variety of ways by adults. It is expensive to purchase and, because of the Internet, the distribution of this evil material has become easy. Have a credit card, you can get it.

That is just too sick, it takes a certain kind of person to possess porn with infants in it. That is disgusting, it makes me mad hearing about stuff like this. He needs to be locked away for a very long time. Disgusting, who finds sexual gratification from young kids and infants?

According to ICE agents, one of those who used a credit card to purchase child porn is attorney Charles Rust-Tierney, the former president of the American Civil Liberties Union in Virginia. Tierney was arrested and charged on Feb. 23.

Tierney apparently told the feds that he paid for the child porn using a Paypal account and then downloaded images of prepubescent girls being violently raped onto CD-Rom disks, which the authorities seized in his home.

One of the images Tierney was in possession of showed a little girl tied up and screaming while being violently raped.

This shocking case received little media attention even though Tierney, 51, is a well-known figure in the Washington, D.C. area and strenuously fought against limits on Internet access in libraries.

On Dec. 1, 1998, Tierney issued this statement: "Recognizing that individuals will continue to behave responsibly and appropriately while in the library, the default should be maximum, unrestricted access to the valuable resources of the Internet."

And included among those "resources" is child porn. The ACLU in Virginia successfully blocked any filtering of objectionable material in Loudon County libraries.

This is off-thechart disturbing, and you would think the media would be all over it. When Ted Haggard was scandalized by a male prostitute in Colorado, the media relentlessly hammered the preacher. He deserved much of it, but the coverage was everywhere.

How many of you have heard of Charles Rust-Tierney?

The only major liberal news organization to cover the story was The Washington Post. It ran a small mention of it in the second section of the paper, essentially burying the situation. The New York Times ignored the story entirely. So did NBC News, CBS News and CNN. ABC News mentioned it on its website.

There is no question that an ACLU big shot who fought against library filters being busted on federal child porn charges is a big story. So what's going on?

The truth is the committed left press in America is no longer interested in reporting the news. Anything that hinders a favorable view of the far left will be ignored; anything that advances liberal causes will be celebrated. News reporting today is largely about ideology and shaping the culture, not about informing the public.

This is dangerous. The Constitution gives the news media a wide variety of protections because the Founding Fathers

wanted information to

get to the folks. So answer me this: Did the media do its job covering the case of Charles Rust-Tierney?

It did not. Another example of the downward spiral of American journalism. The New York Times masthead says "All the News That's Fit to Print."

Sure.

That is just too sick, it takes a certain kind of person to possess porn with infants in it.

And it takes a certain kind of culture to let this abuse of children continue. Namely the kind of culture the ACLU promotes.

The sad thing is, it's not surprising, the ACLU is working to make NAMBLA seem normal.

They always talk about a safety net, the liberals do, and here the children have fallen through. When child molesters and rapists are caught, judges let them go or give them a light sentence. The legislators do nothing. The ACLU works to make sure children can be more easily exploited.

Sad, tragic, and it doesn't fare well for the country or the founding ideals of the country.

I favor the death penalty for those who do it and life in prison with no possibility of parole for those who use it (and that might be too generous).

The left also pushes for sex education which exposes children at younger ages to the concepts of sex, and what iit entails, that way it opens doors for preditors.

The ACLU strongly support NAMBLA and child porn in public libraries.

If Virginia ACLU President Mr Tierney is any indication, The ACLU leadership enjoys "snuff films' of screaming, crying young children with their little hands bound, being brutally raped.

Where there`s smoke there`s fire. ACLU supporting NAMBLA..Now we know why. I still say the NY Times should be investigated as well...It wouldn`t suprise me in the least if it was found they were being paid off by terror groups.

Why isn't this story getting even more attention than the Mark Foley story?

Foley never had child porn. Foley talked suggestively to teenagers, and waited until they were of legal age to go further, yet he was drummed out of Congress on the basis of three-year-old emails and instant messages.

Charles Rust-Tierney was found with heinous child porn and the media is silent.

They will tell you that he's no longer employed by the ACLU, so that makes it a non-story, as if he still doesn't wield power and influence.

They are afraid of the blowback on the ACLU, and so they are willing to tolerate this behavior. It's no different than how the Left, NOW, and others tolerated Bill Clinton's behavior with Monica Lewinski because they didn't want to threaten their agenda.

I'm trying to figure out why your reply was merely an echo of the original post.

Are you trying to use up some sort of band-width quota or what?
