I disagree. The global warming scare is about power, money and politics. Of course, the power-hungry have always known that to induce a religious-like fervor in the public is a great way to achieve their goals of domination.

I think it's some of both: greed for power and money at the upper levels (UN, Gore, EU, Dems, etc..) and faux/new age religious fervor at the nutroots/treehugger level.
