WASHINGTON (AP) -- Congressional Democrats have decided to push a specific timeline for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.
This is starting to get comical. The Dems have so many competing plans, even they don't know what they want.
I agree. It is a significant development even if it fails to stop the President from continuing operations in Iraq. It certainly makes the job of commanders on the ground in Iraq more difficult by providing incentives for continued jihad against both Americans and Iraqis. However, the more the democrats continue down the road of capitulation, the more likely their political prospects will wane. It seems like deja vu all over agains, sans Korea and Vietnam.

We withdrew to the 38th parallel in the face of an all out Chinese assault from the North. If we had not done that as McArthur suggested North Korea in its present form would be non-existent.
Well, there are the billions and billions of dollars being spent on it. And, there's the belief that our presence there makes us less safe overall and not more safe.
If we hadn't withdrawn in the face of the Chinese PVA assault, there wouldn't be a North Korea, because our guys would have been wiped out and lost the whole peninsula.

I guess it some ways also the war is useful to the media. It is a story that is known to the public so the media doesn't have to spend any time (money) getting the public up to speed on what the story is about and with only one or two 'embedded' reporters and few 'live' reporters, it can't cost that much to follow the story. It become just another 'Anna Nicole Smith' type of story.
Imaging pulling this garbage when the President is out of the country.
For all the hype about asserting control, they are scared of him.
