Look, the title of the thread is about Ann's column and the double standard applied to republicans.
In case you didn't notice, half the voters chose a socialist liberal to lead them. There was no mandate.
When you consider the hatred wrought over the 2000 election results, 9-11 was a godsend for the man.
Governing in said climate calls for compromise.
Add an antagonistic and activist media and judiciary to the mix, and your charges become obscene.
Suggest you throw another log on the fire and think about it.
Now, you have the unmitigated gall to attack me for seconding another posters comment and voicing my disappointment over the way chances were missed and how the bully pulpit has been wasted?
I live in an area that is far more conservative than that cesspool called DC. We've kept the house seat Republican for damned near a century. We're not overrun by unions and we have more conservative churches than your DC has crack houses. We damned near gave the state to W last year, and would have if the dead and illegals hadn't been fronts for the demoncrats in Philthydelphia and Pittsburgh. We haven't forgotten 9/11 and we've sent a hell of a lot of our kids to do their patriotic duties. We volunteered for clean up and rescue, like everyone else, in NYC. We've bus pooled and helped clean up and rebuild in NOLA. On our dimes. We are not very happy up here about the way DC and our government has been run. We have seen great opportunities wasted and that's just not the way we Dutch operate. We get things done!
So, please excuse me, and us, if we don't just shut up, sit back and do as we're told by some anonymous mouthpiece for compromise politics and Chamberlain philosophy.

3,000 dead Americans, a two front war, a recession and you call 9/11 a Godsend? That is way off the reservation, even for an uber liberal like you.
