Shooting Elephants in a Barrel [Ann Coulter]
Human Events ^ | March 7, 2007 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 03/07/2007 3:56:09 PM PST by kabar

Lewis Libby has now been found guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice for lies that had absolutely no legal consequence.

It was not a crime to reveal Valerie Plame's name because she was not a covert agent. If it had been a crime, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald could have wrapped up his investigation with an indictment of the State Department's Richard Armitage on the first day of his investigation since it was Armitage who revealed her name and Fitzgerald knew it.

With no crime to investigate, Fitzgerald pursued a pointless investigation into nothing, getting a lot of White House officials to make statements under oath and hoping some of their recollections would end up conflicting with other witness recollections, so he could charge some Republican with "perjury" and enjoy the fawning media attention.

As a result, Libby is now a convicted felon for having a faulty memory of the person who first told him that Joe Wilson was a delusional boob who lied about his wife sending him to Niger.

This makes it official: It's illegal to be Republican.

Hate to say it, though I voted for the man........twice.......so is Bush. His inaction on so many security issues, social, fiscal and moral is so blatant one would guess he's a secret DU'er or a closet social democrat

Look, the title of the thread is about Ann's column and the double standard applied to republicans.

In case you didn't notice, half the voters chose a socialist liberal to lead them. There was no mandate.

When you consider the hatred wrought over the 2000 election results, 9-11 was a godsend for the man.

Governing in said climate calls for compromise.

Add an antagonistic and activist media and judiciary to the mix, and your charges become obscene.

Suggest you throw another log on the fire and think about it.

Since Teddy Kennedy walked away from a dead girl with only a wrist slap (which was knocked down to a mild talking-to, plus time served: zero), Democrats have apparently become a protected class in America, immune from criminal prosecution no matter what they do.

Annie hits 'em hard!

Let me know if you'd like to be added to the Ann Coulter ping list.

In my cynical old age...I am even MORE convinced that Ms. Coulter's Edwards-Faggot comment was a calculated move. The CPAC event was a complete setup to draw attention to herself.

The target is political correctness aka "cultural marxism" and FYI Ann was right on target.

Bub, we had a Republican house and Senate and W got some great SC justices on-board. But, the 'pub's in the Congress went squishy and everyone knows that. Poor fiscal responsibility, scandals, failure to adhere to the '94 contract, deals and backscratching with the demoncrats, etc.

Now, you have the unmitigated gall to attack me for seconding another posters comment and voicing my disappointment over the way chances were missed and how the bully pulpit has been wasted?

I live in an area that is far more conservative than that cesspool called DC. We've kept the house seat Republican for damned near a century. We're not overrun by unions and we have more conservative churches than your DC has crack houses. We damned near gave the state to W last year, and would have if the dead and illegals hadn't been fronts for the demoncrats in Philthydelphia and Pittsburgh. We haven't forgotten 9/11 and we've sent a hell of a lot of our kids to do their patriotic duties. We volunteered for clean up and rescue, like everyone else, in NYC. We've bus pooled and helped clean up and rebuild in NOLA. On our dimes. We are not very happy up here about the way DC and our government has been run. We have seen great opportunities wasted and that's just not the way we Dutch operate. We get things done!

So, please excuse me, and us, if we don't just shut up, sit back and do as we're told by some anonymous mouthpiece for compromise politics and Chamberlain philosophy.

This is your Republican Party for you.

I'm not sure if the word I want to use can be used here in FR but most Republicans are a bunch of p*ssies. I hope I don't get banned for saying this.

I disagree on the vehicle she used to provoke the debate.

It would have been much more effective to wish a leading democrat be assassinated...since there are more than a few examples of hypocrisy and double standards applied to conservatives.

Which is what this column was about.

To alienate entire voting blocs as she did, was just DUMB.

It's hard to blame the outcome of this and other outrages on anything other than the unwillingness of this administration to fight back."

It's not unwillingness.It's just plain don'twantodoitness.
It's not a party thing.
The politicians are selling out the country.

Justice is in the dirt.. If nothing is done about it by the American people they/we deserve what they/we get.. On the otherhand we do have the best Congress money can buy..

Do the anti-Anns get it now? The Dims are going after Ann on the silly "faggot" issue to rob her of credibility and the ability to get out her message. Everbody knows she's going to say these things.

As far as Edwards goes, the guy's a punk. Everybody knows it. End of story.

As far as Libby goes, live by sword, die by the sword. The guy was a Capital Hill soldier. He knew this could happen.

"I disagree on the vehicle she used to provoke the debate."

And that is your right.

--

"To alienate entire voting blocs as she did, was just DUMB."

I think that remains to be seen. Im of the belief that there is a large bloc of voters in the United States who getting fed up with the growing climate of fear that political correctness has created in recent years.

Can you see it? I live outside of the United States and I can see it very clearly. America is sliding fast my FRiend.

"You really should be kicked head over tail off FR. Actually, it's long overdue."

"Thank you for your opinion, pardon if I disagree."

Pardon me for interrupting zero, but JC has STILL not replied to my post #1394 on the Rudy thread, in which I answered in DETAIL his challenge to tell him why Rudy is hands-down the best candidate to prosecute the war on terror.

Instead ole JCEccles did a disappearing act (even though the thread went way past 2000 posts).

Looks like when the kitchen gets hot, he skips or suggests other FReepers ought to be kicked off FR.

Now what kind of legal reasoning is that, JC?

Or was Zero's offense his pointing out that Ann Coulter is becoming an embarassment. Her comment was either:

a. A joke - in which case it was offensive, and bombed; or

b. An attempt at political 'discourse' of the lowest order, vile and disgusting.

Oh, but I forget. ITS ALL ABOUT ANN. And as long as Ann gets her name in the paper, who cares what impact her words have. Her act wore thin a few years ago when she crossed from satire and biting sarcasm into "shock-jock" territory.

Yeah, she sells books. But she is still an ill-mannered - (TEMPER, TEMPER, DON'T SAY IT! DON'T SAY IT!)....individual. (*WHEW*)
