Rosie says she's treated for depression

Rosie O'Donnell says she began being treated for depression after the Columbine school shootings and hangs upside down for up to a half-hour a day to improve her mental state.

When gunmen killed 13 people at Columbine High School in Colorado in 1999, O'Donnell said she felt as if it had happened to her children.

"I couldn't stop crying," she said on an episode taped for ABC's "The View" and due to air Friday. "I stayed in my room. The lights were off. I couldn't get out of bed and that's when I started taking medication."

Anyone concerned about the stigma of taking medication for depression should know that "it saved my life," she said.

When she began taking antidepressants, O'Donnell, 44, said she began yoga and "inversion therapy," where she hangs upside down by a swing for 15 to 30 minutes a day. She demonstrates it on "The View."

O'Donnell said she also has seasonal affective disorder, often called SAD, the wintertime blues that can strike when the days grow short. SAD is characterized by recurrent major depressive episodes during the fall and winter.

She's "instantly happy" on sunny days but feels as if she's being tortured when it's cloudy. She feels the most important thing to do when you're feeling depressed is to get up and move.

Rosie (what an inept name for her) - should be called "Gray"....

The woman is desperately unhappy - for an unfilled life which she constantly blares out at the world is wonderful and terrific.

In order to cope with her neverending dissatisfaction - she tries to control her environment, the people near to her and the audience....

I think her brains drained out of her ears months ago. If anything she was probably trying to invert her face from a sneer to a smile!

Bet shes even uglier upside down.

How could one tell? Based on what comes out of her mouth, I think her mouth and sphincter are interchangeable.

"Seasonal Affective Disorder? Get a grip on your life!"

I have never been to the doctor and have never been diagnosed for it, but I can relate somewhat. I'm good for a couple of months of winter or so. But, when March rolls around and the weather shows no signs of behaving? Well, let's just say my mood alters a little and I am not a pleasant person to be around.

Of course, I have my own remedy. If and when this happens, I just head to the beach. There ain't no such thing as a bad day at the beach. After that, I'm usually good for a couple more weeks. ;-)

These revelations are nothing. Look up some reviews of Rosie's book Find Me, which details her obsession with an apparent con artist.

LOL ya think??? So many examples of that, who would even know where to start!

Coincidence, being her lifestyle choice?? You decide.

these people suffer from a spiritual emptiness, nothing, especially bat behavior, is going to cure it.

You have better search skills than I do! I looked it up before I responded but couldn't find any info - other than she did adopt.

Thanks. Didn't thing it was that long ago, either.

I've heard that hanging rightside up - you know, by the neck - absolutely is guaranteed to eliminate depression within minutes (even seconds, if done the right way).

When the blood returns to her brain, Rosie's ability to think is restored.

SSAD is a mental illness. It's often found in combination with other mental illnesses (anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, narcissism, etc.). Unfortunately, you can treat depression all you want, but if you don't treat SSAD as well, the depression will just keep coming back.

Mental health professionals who enable same-sex attraction and ignore the pain and suffering caused by it are not helping those afflicted with the condition. Indeed, they're only compounding the problem. They are quacks in the worst sense of the word.
