The Unpunished Crime Of The Century. (Vanity)
tomnbeverly

Posted on 03/06/2007 10:50:04 PM PST by tomnbeverly

Today we witnessed a travesty of Justice. We saw a man convicted of lying under oath to a Grand Jury. Although his defense was that he did not recall with whom he had a conversation regarding the name of a CIA agent, published by the media. The jury just didn't believe him and subsequently decided that he did in fact lie.

Now afterwards jurors made it clear through comments that what they really felt was sympathy for Mr. Libby and knew that he was the fall guy for the Bush Administration, who they believed was intentionally outing a CIA operative in retribution for criticizing the war. Amazingly, although no evidence of any such retaliation or retribution was ever presented, the jury felt that way. Was this jury truly impartial?

In any event Libby is a Republican and works for Dick Cheney to some liberals and to the media that in itself deserves Capital Punishment.

In contrast the national security advisor to President Bill Clinton, risking his livelihood, and his liberty stole classified documents from the national archives and destroyed them. He knew that this was a crime but the travesty is that he stole these documents in the midst of a bi-partisan commission's investigation into the terrorist attacks of 911. The implication of this act is treason.

The key questions, still unanswered are who was Mr. Berger covering up for? Was it his own mistakes as National Security Advisor that would be embarrassing to be made public by the 911 commission? Or, was he in fact covering up for mishandlings by Bill Clinton? History will never be able to re-create facts that were in those destroyed documents and therefore we may never know why the government failed to stop 911 from happening.

Almost 3000 Americans were murdered and the crime to cover up the facts surrounding that is largely unpunished. Mr. Berger is a liberal Democrat who worked for former President Bill Clinton. Being a Liberal Democrat who worked for the media beloved Bill Clinton got him a pass. So much for the balanced scales of justice.

Submitted as Speak to Power letter on Politico maybe it will get published.

In the broader sense politically anyway, it seems that the Republicans can choose to start hammering back at the Democrats anytime now. They have taken the hight rode for too long and it has cost them dearly.

I was shocked when that stupid anal brained juror came out and made some very big 15 minutes of fame statements.

Looks like to me that poor old Scooter got shafted by a jury looking to convict.

Surely the juror who talked like a or is probably a left wing Democrat had his mind made up even before the trial started and was looking to make a statement for liberal America haters everywhere.

Why wait for elected Republicans?

Do the Dems wait for their reps to act?

Never.

Did Joe Wilson? Did Val Plame and their minions? Does Cindy Sheehan wait? Do any Dem activist ever wait for elected Dems to go on offense?

It seems they hammer on their own, make their own plans, concoct their own schemes, and they plot consistently and ruthlessly.

And do it brilliantly.

So maybe we can learn a lesson from them.

2 counts of lying under oath and 1 count of obstruction from what I have read.

The Dillema is that being the party out of power it becomes expected to criticize but for God's sake we are talking about our very survival and the Democrats just don't get it. So I say Republicans need to go on the attack. Why does Harry Reid get a pass on his land deal? Same with Obama and my lord Congressman William Jefferson got re-elected.... There are plenty of crimes to uncover, start with all the leaks of classified info the the NY times... that has got to be a bunch of high level Democrats.

It is worse than that. That "CIA operative" was not entitled under the law to any secrecy regarding her position at the CIA.

The whole episode is disgusting.

The democrats finally got their pound of flesh out of someone regardless of his guilt... Hope they're proud...

A travesty.

Victims of their own ignorance and unable to make a reasonable evaluation of the facts, these jurors let themselves be used by a corrupt justice system in a cynical effort to penalize the opposition political party.

Who obstructed justice here?

Republicans? Their light has gone out, my friend. The were consumed by the dark side. It's just us conservatives, now.

OK, sorry. I watched "Return Of The Jedi" in HD last night. I can hear Sir Alex Guiness as I type - lol!

I have a nominee for the unpunished crime(s) of the century:

A sitting President of the United States commits numerous felonies in an attempt to fix the outcome of a court case in which he, himself is the defendant.

Whatever became of this felonious criminal?

Libby was convicted for a crime for which no charges have been filed against anyone because there was no crime to begin with. This has nothing to do with the charges against Mr. Libby. I call Mistrial.

The biggest unpunished crime was approving the sale of missile guidance technology and the supercomputers to run it to the Chinese, who now have missiles which can reach the west coast of the US.
