"Eargle, speaking Feb. 22 at a news conference, said an illegal immigrant with three children came to her office the day before asking for free legal help for an abused child.

"I told her the best thing for her to do was to get back to Mexico," Eargle said then.

Very disappointed at Hunter.

No longer a consideration.

Next!

"Hunter is pro-life, which is good, but he opposes free trade, which is unforgivable."

Hunter opposes UNFAIR trade, particularly with Communist China:

"DUNCAN HUNTER QUOTE: "Not only do we have a bad trade deal with China but they're cheating on the one we do have. China is cheating on trade and they're using our trade dollars to buy ships, planes and missiles. They're becoming a super power and stepping into the shoes of the Soviet Union."

Duncan Hunter is the only politician that I have heard that "gets it" re: COMMUNIST China.

Some day COMMUNIST China might attack our country with sophisticated military equipment purchased with AMERICAN dollars.

So who is the "perfect" candidate in your opinion and why?

Be careful, though, someone might find out that your "perfect" candidate has a fault or two. :)

At the moment, China would have difficulty invading and defeating North Korea. The answer will not come from damaging our own economy in a misguided attempt to send a message. At the moment, China is not particularly hostile towards us. The only ability they have to harm us or our interests for the forseeable future would be through terrorist means. Mr. Hunter's plans would do nothing but foster hostility and generate animosity. The alternatives are war or diplomacy. There are many examples of formerly hostile nations that now have peaceful relationships with the US. Mr. Hunter would take us in the opposite direction, which is insanity. China is not simply going to go away if we ignore them. They will continue to trade with South Korea, Japan, and Australia.

We are not "getting screwed on trade." We have a trade imbalance because we have more money to spend than anyone else.

He is opposed to outsourcing national security manufacture

Until we start importing our aircraft carriers, raptors, and B2's from China, that is nothing more than scaremongering rhetoric.

Interesting. Eargle’s statement is fairly recent, and while stupid not as inflammatory.

But Hiring Dr. Henry “Screw the Buddhists and kill the Muslims And put that in the minutes” Jordan a decade after that public statement is stupid.

Wonder what he's going to do with Jews and Hindus?

At least Hunter fired them immediately.

That's true, particularly as to Eargle who's comment is recent. Dr. Jordan's comments are a decade old. I doubt Hunter knew them, but whoever vets these positions isn't doing his homework.

Agreed. I have little doubt that the responsible party has been so advised.

Not at all. However it is clear that Hunter has more of a sense of decency, RE-READ what that brpad Eargle said, referring to an illegal immigrant with three children, asking for free legal help for an abused child.

You're absolutely right, the priority here is first the welfare of the child and a close second, the criminal. If the abuser is a family member, sending them "back to Mexico" may subject the child to ongoing abuse. And worse yet sends the message to illegals, and there's a number of them here, that the penalty for criminal behaivior up to and including child abuse is deportation. If not a family member, we're allowing a child abuser to remain in our midst, and sending the message that illegals are fair game.

One smarmy remark begets another. Every time.

You've got an attitude problem. Do you scream at fast food workers as well?

Worry about your own attitude. The point, which you chose to miss entirely, was the original smarmy remark. And yes, if a fast food worker draws first blood, I might just scream at them.

Duncan Hunter actually has very good looks. If he lost weight and bought a good suit, his looks would probably rival Romney's. Even now he looks far better than Guiliani.

It isn't that looks are the most important aspect of a candidate. But when one runs for President of the United States, good grooming helps. Even Reagan understood this reality.

We are not only attempting to appeal to our own, but to the country at large. Many people are not as concerned about issues as we are, and superficial characteristics can influence their vote, as unfortunate as that may be.

How can Duncan be a true conservative when he voted for the No Child Left Behind and 2003 Medicare Drug Benefit??????

This is a perfect example of how wrong the Rudy people are when they claim that Hunter supporters are "demanding perfection" in their candidate. Hunter sure isn't perfect, and he might be able to spin those votes into a "caring about the children/elderly" rhetoric that can help him pick up moderate votes.

Let's hope it isn't as deadly as the mistake Hunter has thinking he doesn't need to raise as much $$ as the other candidates.

You're a Rudy supporter. Wouldn't you hope that Hunter DOES make deadly mistakes?
