Great pics!!
That track does look like one to visit for sure.
The race itself wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be.
I haven't seen any news on Robert Yates.
KK guys gave the boy a souvenir? I hope he doesn't switch drivers now. :)
TJ was talking to him on the radio when that happened. He was waffling back and forth about two tires or 4 tires, so Jr was thinking pit and no one warned him Steve Hmiel must have taken a breather and I can't blame him because that job is the toughest one up there.
Sprint is on to change NASCAR series names
Sprint Cup could come in 2008, sources say
It appears NASCAR will see name changes to its top two series next season, the Observer has learned. Sprint Nextel is primed to change the name of the Nextel Cup Series, with the likelihood of such a change by next season called "fairly certain" by multiple sources on Sunday.
Gordon not satisfied with second
By DAVID POOLE, dpoole@charlotteobserver.com
LAS VEGAS -- Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin are the only drivers to finish in the top 10 in each of this years first three races, but Gordon found it difficult to be completely happy with a second-place finish Sunday.
I am happy with the start to the season, but I am disappointed because I thought we had the car to beat today, the four-time Nextel Cup champion said.
Gordon was among those not pleased with the conditions he had race under on the new Las Vegas track this weekend.
In turns 3 and 4 I felt like I was on ice from Lap 1 to the last lap, he said. When I was behind Jimmie there at the end I was just trying to keep from trying to spin out.
Gordon said the blame for what happened should be shared by the track, the teams and Goodyear. More importantly, he said, all of those parties need to work together to make it better.
We have to come up with a solution because theres not reason for us to show up at a track and be white-knuckle all weekend like we were here, he said.
The track was definitely the big question. Mo better than before...lots of 2 wide in the turns and lots of 3 wide coming out of turns 2 and 4. They did not expect to see any of that this year.

Cost a buck, forget which charity it was for.
On Sunday the boy wore a Reed Sorenson hat and shirt, and spent most of his time at Reed's stall. Around 10:00 we were at a table eating when 3 of Reed's crew came walking through, they all 'high 5'd' him and one said, "I saw you on the upper level watching us."
I had to tie the boy down, thought he was going to float away. He was jazzed, to say the least. Reed has been a favorite since last year, got to meet him.
I think it was more a matter of what he could see. On Friday he spent most of his time at Dale Jr's stall. On Sat there was a lot more people, after the crowd at Jr's stall got too big he went to Reed's. On Sunday he spent the first 30 minutes at Jr's stall, then the crowd arrived. He liked hanging out on the back side, right above the garage door, watching crew and car come and go. He could not do that at Jr's - too many people.
Come race time it was all Dale Jr. We rented one of those Nextel Fan View units (very cool) and I made the mistake of letting him 'have command' of it. Locked on #8. It was a battle when I wanted to scan or go see another driver!
OT
Bush 41 collapsed playing golf in Palm Springs.
Of course it was in the 90's...........I give him credit for being out there.......the desert sun is murder and there isn't much shade on a golf course unless you hit the ball in the trees. :)
He's ok.
All we got was rain.
A lot of water rescues last night.
I just heard that they charge you $400.00 if they have to get you out.
In California they do that for free. Although there's many more places here in Texas to wind up in a creek by just driving down a road!
Was 8 cautions more than normal?
Thanks, it's hard work....but someone's gotta do it. :)
Mac I made the 8 garage pic smaller using the
following....adding the brackets of course. I just hate
when I resize something because I get those ripples.

Great shots!
LOL, we just call a neighbor or a friend. Many years ago, we high sided a curve and literally flew out into a field. Took a tractor that time. ;)
WCG, thanks for the info. All this is new, and it starts with the new camera. Learning....
Right now working on uploading the video's.....then it's off to the site you sent about resizing the jpg's.
Some of the pics will look weird....looking through glass, taking a picture, you can see my outline in the pic. Using the body as a shield to block the glare. Must have looked pretty stupid more than once! lol. High on my list of things to do is fire off an email to Bruton, "Fix the glass!!!!"
Easy to do, non-reflective coating, etc. People were bitching big time about that, so I'm sure he will get a load of email about it.
Anyway, learning as I go on this stuff. Thanks for your help.
Count me as another one that is thankful for what you do.
You forget, though, you are invisable! Lol
1) I drive.
2) Early
3) 30 minutes
4) About 18 miles away. Not far enough.
Lol
Just being a SA, working on the video's right now. 4) is true. Will get back to ya on 1), 2) and 3), ok?
What a great time y'all must have had!
The bird's eye view looks cool.
That was wrong, Mikey.
Yep, Jr made a mistake.....at least he was in the race!
I've been in this town since 1983, the last several years I've had some nasty things to say, like, "damn, I hate this town, takes forever to get anywhere!".....
Then there are times like this.....there is only one city that can do something like this....the Neon Garage...the Blue Man group for pre-race entertainment, the flyover was from our home town boys - the USAF Thunderbirds. Friday and Saturday: if you got tired of watching Nascar, watch the jets from Nellis AFB. Hard to miss, actually.
There is only one city that can put on a show like this....and I'm damn glad to be here!!!!
Elvis is in the house! This is Neon Garage central, about 8:30am Sunday. To the left you can see the upper level that looks down into the team stalls, one of five sections that make up the garage area. In the background, looking under the awning, is the Richard Petty seating section. Our seats were about dead center.
Hot rod parade. Heading out for practice Saturday morning. Turn the volume up!
Camera audio gets whacked...That is real music!
SamsTowm 300 start 105,000 in attendance. Not bad for a Busch Race.
UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 start 160,000 Nascar fans. F*** Washington State.
