**Food PING**

Time to start a dead animal/chili thread. My husband and his friends always say it's unless something died in the preparation of a meal it's not really a meal -- it's just an appetizer.

My God, you didn't actually think I'd make some soy-laden vegetarian slop, did you? LOL :-)

Chilifuti? Ewwww! Maybe we could come up with a recipe, can it, and sell it to the carne-deprived.

Vegetarianism is its own punishment.

I'll become vegan if PETA wants to pay my therapy bills for my awful mood swings when I go without animal products for too long.

"offering to cook him faux “fried chicken” as an introduction to meat-free meals."

If it's so good why do they even attempt to make it taste like meat?? I have never understood this and have had veggie friends try to push tofu "meat" on me on numerous occassions.

Give me the dead deep fried bird any day of the week!

Big whoop. He'll start a company selling fart offsets and get even richer.

Incidentally, there was a post a few days ago concerning Al's flatulence problem.

This is interesting. The church of the environment ruthlessly threatens to excommunicate an important advocate for committing minor trangressions, but if the Catholic Church grumbles about abortion support, they are backward, intolerant and dangerous!

I'm not a vegetarian because I love animals. I'm a vegetarian because I HATE vegetables. I want to KILL them and EAT them!* :)

Crockpot Vegetarian Chili

2 Tbsp. olive oil
2 large onions, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
3 (14 oz.) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
2 tsp. cumin
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
10 oz. pkg. frozen corn
2 (15 oz.) cans black beans, drained and rinsed
1 cup picante or taco sauce

In a heavy skillet, saute onions in the olive oil until tender, stirring frequently. Add garlic and cook 2 minutes longer. Add cumin and cayenne pepper, and whatever other spices you might like. Cook for two minutes longer.

Mix all ingredients into a 4-5 quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on low about 10 hours. Serves 8-10

*Just kidding. Add a pound of cooked ground meat of your choice, maybe some crisped bacon...and you've got yourself some really good chili!

This is my competition chili. Of course, in sanctioned cookoffs I omit the refried beans.

How can they (PETA) say you can't be a meat eating environmentalist?!?! I'm doing my part to save the environment! I'm eating as many cows as I can, to stop them from emitting all those terrible greenhouse gasses, like CO2 and methane! It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it!

I experience nausea every time I see that picture.....

What I experience is remembering that Gore's polling with women went sky high after that, and thinking what a huge mistake the 19th Amendment was. And don't even get me started on 16 and especially 17!

Maybe they'd allow Gore to eat those polar bears that are just going to be drowning anyway according to Gore. (even though they swim).

EThey're right. Environmentalism is a political issue. I prefer to think of myself as a conservationist.

Or maybe issue meat eating credits through his own company.

Yes he can pay starving children in third world countries meat-eating credits to not eat meat. Brilliant. Even better if he can make a profit off of it and win an Academy Award at the same time.
