So they couldn't get Cheney or Rove or Bush. So they will settle for inflicting an injustice on Libby?

Is it any coincidence that half of Ted Kennedy's relatives have the same middle name as the last name of the Special Prosecutor? hmmmmm. (:^*)

If they knew he was just the fall guy, why did he get convicted then?

"...What we came up with from that," he said, "was that Libby was told about Mrs. Wilson [Valerie Plame] nine times" in that time period. "We believed he DID have a bad memory," he said, "but it seemed very unlikely he would not remember about being told about Mrs. Wilson" so many times....
Hard to believe he would remember on Tuesday and forget on Thursday," and so on.
This is the crux of the situation. Libby's lawyers tried to sell the jury on his being busy and having a bad memory and they wouldn't bite on it. Frankly, he deserved to lose this case based on that approach.
Libby did wind up being the fall guy here and it sucks. The administration's opponents outdid them on this one. They had little room to rebut Wilson's claims and tried to fight back against a stacked deck.

He said that politics played no role in the verdict, and claimed most jurors didn't know how others felt politically.Yeah, right.

Fitzy dealt the "Hate Bush" card from the bottom of the deck.

Sounds like the prosecution hand-picked the jury.

I'm sure this guy is now looking forward to a lucrative book deal, endless appearances on MSNBC and wild sex from a variety of grungy women with tattoos, underarm hair and bad breath.

Denis Collins said, "We asked ourselves, what is HE doing here? Where is Rove and all these other guys....He was the fall guy." This sounds like a pretty clear indication that at least this juror was voting based on something other than what Libby was charged with and other than the evidence presented in the case.
Makes me wonder if it's grounds for a mistrial.

People have tried to make more of this than they should. Libby looked bad on this one and anyone who looked at the case might say that Fitzgerald was FOS for going after him but I don't see how they could buy Libby's spin. This was a huge issue for the WH at the time and they were going into damage control mode. Of course they are going to have to fight back. Fitzy nailed him for trying to cover his ass which is lame but Libby likely put himself in this mess.

"We have reached a verdict."
"Republicans bad."
"Bush's fault."
Question: "Why did it take so long to reach your verdict/"
Answer: "We needed the per diem, we don't have jobs. We will be a the anti-war protest near the Vietnam memorial, though."
