Wishful thinking, but I'd pardon him. As a double-plus the firestorm would dig up the Marc Rich pardon and stir up the Clinton campaign.
Jury selection is a big problem in our justice system. A random jury pool should be selected, and aside from any blatant conflict of interest (knows the defendant, has stock in the plaintiff company, etc.) they should sit on the jury.
Juries mostly consist of people who are too stupid to figure out how to get out of doing jury duty.
In other words, this is a case of post modern justice, just like the Nifong prosecution of the Duke lacrosse case. In postmodern justice, the prosecution doesn't have to prove his case because it is assumed the accusation is typical behavior for the defendent class. The case was brought to deconstruct the metanarrative of the power of the evil conservative Bush administration.

There's a thread on NRO online (forgot by whom) that states that the reason the Republicans are so reluctant to criminalize political differences as compared to Democrats is because D.C. is the single most Democrat-leaning district in the US.
In D.C., there's no way a Republican can hope to have a matter of law settled on its merits vs. political calculation.
Or people who take the responsibility to do their civic duty. I'd never try to get out of it.
Another example of jury brain nullification.
Or in this case, they consist of people who wish to further their agenda.
I would hope that it would be because of principles. A fantasy, I know.
So Collins made clear that this was a political trial, the only way Republicans can be tried in D.C. This should be the basis of a mistrial, but that inept judge won't rule for it, of course.
The President should have come out into the Rose Garden and announced the pardon of Libby and anyone else that Fitz prosecutes on these bogus charges, citing as precedent Billy Jeff's long list of pardons. Of course, Clinton pardoned notorious crooks such as Marc Rich and drug dealers and the msm thought that was cute.
Harry Reid is already calling for Bush to promise not to pardon Libby. Why would he (Bush) agree?
I highly doubt all of them could have had an agenda. One gave a very good reason for a conviction.

If I were Bush I would make such a promise only after every single circuit court nominee is confirmed, and Reid promises to give any SCOTUS nominee an up or down vote.
All this moron did was give Libby's attorney more material for an appeal.
