Libby turned out to be the fall guy in a sense that he was the only one that Fitz could get for anything. I figure Fitzpawn was leaning on him hard to give him something to get at Rove or Cheney, and when he wouldn't this was inevitable. Not inevitable that Fitz would get away with it, but that he would prosecute him to the nth degree.

I don't care what Fizzy says. I do care about using stupid juries to persecute people for political reasons.

Amazing and the Crime of the Century goes largely unpunished... When Sandy Berger stole documents in an attempt to cover up the Clinton National Security Bungles which allowed 911 to happen he got a slap on the wrist... Don't forget it was the BUSH DoJ that prosecuted Burglar and offered the slap on the wrist sentence to induce Burglar to plead guilty. The Burglar sentence was 100% BUSH's DoJ fault.

If they can find a jury that will convict on this garbage, what makes us think they would be able to find one that would convict a rat with a smoking gun?

How's it going to look if Bush pardons Libby but lets Ramos and Compeon rot? They're saying under sentencing guidelines he's likely to get 1-3. I say he does his time and somebody gives him a nice job when he gets out. Or he writes a book. But not both.

But not both.Bush won't pardon Ramos, Campeon or Libby for the same reason - it would be used by the demonrats as a battering ram against the Republican Party leading up to the elections. Look for Bush to pardon all three after the 2008 election is over, just before he leaves office.

Yeah..I couldn't get that either!
Whaaat?

My major objection to this whole thing is extracting "crimes" from a situation where there was no original crime committed. This seems to be the political hatchet job of choice for both parties. Create a potential crime, then watch the operatives scramble, then start investigation, then invent crimes of omission, cover up, etc. It is Kafkaesque to be sure.

"Can you have jury nullification at this point? Can't the judge say, based on the statements made by the journo juror, that the jury based their verdict on something other than the evidence given to them?"
No.
The juror's public statements might be used as partial grounds for Libby's appeal.

That's so weird - I know one of the jurors from the Julie Hiatt Steele trial, and that jury was hung because a couple of the jurors felt that convicting her after Clinton was acquitted was unfair. Everyone in the room agreed that she was guilty.

Because I figure if he DOESN'T get a nice job when he gets out, THEN he'll write a tell-all.

Bill O'Reilly is something of an ass. Just not as much so as a lot of the media.
