Hardly "stupid". In reality, that was the crux of the weak charges Fizzy pursued.

And the lone jury holdout(s) who asked the question understood that fact exactly; but they were eventually overwhelmed and ground under after 10 days by a self-aggrandizing ComPost reporter & a cadre of DC elitez.

Fizzy tripped up Libby in front of the GJ -- that's Fizzy's specialty -- not about telling, but about recalling different conversations at different times to different reporters (only a BFD in DC); and Libby (ostensibly an actual lawyer) fancied himself a complex man, too much so to adopt the Clintonesque "I don't recall" 200+ times or whatever number Hillary rang up during a Rose Law Firm inquiry.

If you are a Republican, there is NO WAY you're going to get a fair jury in the DC area! The first thing Libby's Shyster Lawyer should've done was demand a change of venue.

"Either he lied or committed misconduct during the trial, or Libby's lawyer committed malpractice in failing to strike him. None of that seems like a stretch given what I've learned today."

Absolutely. Find the sharpest appellate lawyer well-versed in post-jury revelations and pounce.

• Did Denis have any conversations of any kind with little Timmy before, during, or after the trial? Did they communicate through friends?

• What did the dimissed female juror discuss with Denis and the rest of the jury that caused her dismissal? Why did the Judge Walton say, "I will emphasize again the importance of not having contact with any outside information."

I stand by my original assessment. The jury members are stupid to think it's illegal to lie to a newspaper reporter.

The crux of Fizzy's charges was that Libby lied under oath to the grand jury - something that is illegal. Fizzy never said the trial was about lying to a newspaper and if he did he would have been laughed out of court.

Why should I, or you for that matter, give a rat's ass what Fizzy said the trial was about, given that he lied at the indictment press conference and also lied to the judge about not injecting Plame into his closing arguments.
