There is still the possibility that the Defense could request a JNOV (Judgment notwithstanding the verdict) or in the alternative motion for a new trial.

These have been issued in the past. This is exactly the kind of case in which it should be granted. There is no question but that there is reasonable doubt as to Libby's guilt. Anyone who read the transcripts of Russert's pathetic testimony would realize that the prosecution's star witness had the memory of an advanced Alzheimer's patient.

A JNOV would restore some of my lost faith in the Judicial System. But the question is whether the judge has the political will to withstand the firestorm that would result from such a decision.
