RUDY: SHE'S NO EVIL STEPMOM; DEFENDS JUDI FROM HIS SON'S PARENT RAP (Judi's bitter divorce saga)
NY POST ^ | March 6, 2007 | GEOFF EARLE with Maggie Haberman

Posted on 03/06/2007 3:27:51 AM PST by Liz

Rudy Giuliani vigorously defended his wife, Judith, as the perfect stepmom just days after his son, Andrew, revealed he doesn't get along with her. "My wife, Judith, is a loving and caring mother and stepmother," Giuliani told reporters after a meeting with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and county sheriffs.....he stood foursquare behind his wife, whose highly public relationship with Giuliani began while he was still married to the mother of his two kids.

Andrew Giuliani bluntly disclosed.... "There's obviously a little problem that exists between me and his wife." Sources familiar with the difficult relationship between the Giuliani kids and their stepmom said it started deteriorating before the couple married June 2003, but went south quickly after the wedding.

Giuliani's kids had hoped to carve out time to spend with their dad alone as things got worse, but he opted against it, the sources said.

At the same time, Rudy was involved in the life of Judith's daughter, Whitney, and even spoke at her graduation from York Preparatory school in May 2004. Sources say Giuliani has not visited Andrew at Duke, and that his relations with Caroline also are strained....even worse than with his son. Before she wed Giuliani, Judith went through a bitter court fight with Bruce Nathan over who would have custody of their daughter. Her ex-husband filed court papers in 2001 that said his daughter ran away from her mother when she was 16 and voluntarily moved in with him during the time when her mother was regularly at Giuliani's side in public while he was trying to get a divorce from Hanover.

" Fact is, I assume that there's plenty of "wrong" to go around in the Giuliani households, just as there is in many American families.

But that says nothing about any of the parties' ability to operate effectively in the outside world. It is totally irrelevant."

Teen age boys, regardless of whether the parents are " perfect " can make life a challenge at times.
Andrew Giuliani is now a man and should stop blaming his evil step Mom for his problems.
Both his parents have remarried , both parents seem happy , Andrew should concentrate on his own life instead of running to the media and complaining that he doesn't get enough Daddy time.
But, then he says he's too busy playing golf and wouldn't have time for Daddy, anyway.
Andrew is obviously not very mature and maybe in time, he will realize that life's not perfect and his parents aren't perfect.
I wonder if Daddy is paying Andrew's Duke tuition and keeping him in Callaways ?
Ron and Patti behaved like brats during and after the Reagan administration and I never thought it meant that the Reagans were bad people or that President Reagan wasn't capable of being CIC.
I think this mini flap says more about Andrew than it does Giuliani.

I see. Now I am a "kook", a "liar", and "insane" for not supporting a pro-choice, pro-sanctuary city, philanderer.

Or do you just believe conservatives are crazy lying kooks?

Sad that Rudy didn't have time to spend with his two kids but he had time to go to every fireman's and policeman's funereal after 9/11. It says a lot about a person who seemingly cares for people he doesn't know but doesn't show the same care to his own kids.

He cared because there would be cameras present and he was already plotting how to use 9/11 as leverage for a presidential run.

Pure political calculation.

Ann Coulter, three broken enagagements, yet she demands marital purity from others. Laura Ingraham, two broken engagements, yet she pillories Rudy.

Reagan, two marriages, Rudy, three marriages, most people ignoring his wife's three marriages, Newt, the hero to so many Rudy bashers, three marriages.

Clinton, one marriage. I think this issue is beating a dead horse.

I recall when Nelson Rockefeller was deemed unacceptable as veep because he divorced his wife.

Times have changed, like or not. Many families have broken up.

Bill Bennett criticizing Rudy, blech!

These unappeasables demanding perfection in others........I like the way President Bush puts it. I cannot attack the speck in someone else's EYE when I have a log in my own.

"I'd just like to break in for a moment here to thank you Freepers for the valuable work you're doing on my behalf. I know I can count on you in the coming election to keep the Republicans from victory at any cost. Thanks again, now please go back to tearing yourselves apart over trivial bullsh*t."

We're eleven months from the primary.

Of course, the Juliebots want to silence the truth about their candidate and pretend the primary is already over. But it isn't.

Only idiots think the primary is over when the pre-primary season has barely begun.

This kooky, lying, schlemielly, schlepper wants any of these GLibs to address Rudy's association with Stonewall and Moveon.

The weak G-libs are getting nervous.

Here's the difference between you and I:

I will fully support whichever candidates are nominated for POTUS and VP in 2008.

Just for the record, my current top choices are Newt, Romney, Giuliani, Jim Gilmore, and Huckabee.

Why would I be "nervous"?

I think this mini flap says more about Andrew than it does Giuliani.

That's why I use the phrase "post-teens". No longer a boy, but not quite yet a man. Not the best source for impartial marital assessments (nonetheless a popular one with the RudyNot cadre on FR).

The wanton misrepresentation and use of specious "facts" is very strange.

The Daily News is now and always was at the top of the HATE RUDY brigades.

Not a New Yorker but I've heard that elsewhere, and also that it's fairly leftie in current terms.

Which makes me wonder why the RudyNot "conservatives" here on FR have been using it to make their case.

Looks like we have another Juliebot pulling a Hinckley on Ronald Reagan's memory. Why do they have to tear down the great Ronaldus to promote their leftwing candidate?

It's you people who are disrepecting Reagan, who, after all, brought Rudy into his adminstration.

Yes, that would be a difference. You will blindly support whomever you are presented with, and I choose to make the decision myself.

Just so I am perfectly clear, IF it comes down to a democratic primary between Hillary and Giuliani, AND there is no viable conservative running, I MAY hold my nose just for the sake of preventing a Cambodia in Iraq situation.

But I would never throw away my principles even before the primaries.

I have a real problem with any woman who cheats with a married man. That does not let the man off the hook by any means but being a woman I expect better of another woman. I suppose I am showing my age,but I believe faithfulness in marriage is a blessing of God. But I did not grow up in a lovely family, and my dad probably cheated all over the city with many women, as he was a police officer and liked to show off his badge! Just the other day I was told of a relative of mine who is messing around with a married man and it made me sick and ashamed of her. And she was just recently baptized Catholic not even a year ago. I have tried to be a good friend and family member to her but she has serious issues and family and friends told me to, shake the dust from my feet! I pray for her but I am also afraid something bad is going to happen to her.

One of thousands of appointees. Do you have any evidence that Reagan even knew Giuliani before he appointed him? My expectation is that Meese was looking for an anti-mob DA to take on the New York mafia. Rudy and staff repaid him by being very disloyal to Meese. He spent most of his time at DOJ using it as a springboard to return to NYC and to further his own political career. Check out Mark Levin on this.
