Rudy Giuliani vigorously defended his wife, Judith, as the perfect stepmom just days after his son, Andrew, revealed he doesn't get along with her. "My wife, Judith, is a loving and caring mother and stepmother," Giuliani told reporters after a meeting with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and county sheriffs.....he stood foursquare behind his wife, whose highly public relationship with Giuliani began while he was still married to the mother of his two kids.
Andrew Giuliani bluntly disclosed.... "There's obviously a little problem that exists between me and his wife." Sources familiar with the difficult relationship between the Giuliani kids and their stepmom said it started deteriorating before the couple married June 2003, but went south quickly after the wedding.
Giuliani's kids had hoped to carve out time to spend with their dad alone as things got worse, but he opted against it, the sources said.
At the same time, Rudy was involved in the life of Judith's daughter, Whitney, and even spoke at her graduation from York Preparatory school in May 2004. Sources say Giuliani has not visited Andrew at Duke, and that his relations with Caroline also are strained....even worse than with his son. Before she wed Giuliani, Judith went through a bitter court fight with Bruce Nathan over who would have custody of their daughter. Her ex-husband filed court papers in 2001 that said his daughter ran away from her mother when she was 16 and voluntarily moved in with him during the time when her mother was regularly at Giuliani's side in public while he was trying to get a divorce from Hanover.

But...But... He (the president) is our Moral Leader!?!
Well, most of the time I don't like Rudy, but if he's planning that well and has that good of a staff, maybe he WOULD make a good President...
"I can't guess your own motives, but it's clear that many on these threads have an almost infantile or childish view of what a U.S. President should be."
Funny you should say that. I have a childish view that infants should not be murdered and expect my President to feel the same. Crazily enough, I actually have one that does, and appointed two supreme court justices that also feel the same way. If either of those flaming liberals Obama, Clinton, or Giuliani are in the White House, Ginsburg, Stevens, and Souter are going to be replaced by the ninth circus court of appeals. Of course, then all the babies actually being born will speak Spanish and get free healthcare until the whole system collapses around us.
Giuliani supporters do not belong on this forum.
Too bad Rudy did not heed the wise admonition: "Be careful who you step on, on the way up, because you are going to meet them on the way down."
Yeah, open borders and sanctuary cities. That's a frickin great way towards national security. LMAO!
104 goes for all the Giuliani-libs.
you'd rather wait and think everything is rosy til the dems have at you? dirt is dirt. better to deal with it now than later, and if it takes him down prior to the primaries, he would never have withstood a dem attack anyway. i don't get the whining about this. you think the MSM and leftists are going to give rudy a pass on his tawdry personal life in the general election? how naive.
Well, angkor NUKED that one.
So it's OK Giuliani openly supports gays, abortion and illegal immigrants, meanwhile not giving a damn about the constitution, his kids and the sanctity of a real (not gay) marriage vow? Sure speaks loads about your own character, or utter lack of character.
Been nice knowing ya! (not really, just kidding)
Are you married? Ever been in a relationship that went sour? Have you had any relationships at all? Are you perfect? :)
You meant to address angkor, the person who wrote that. My thoughts are summed up in #104
You're damn right I did.
Good observation.
I generally don't engage in vicious attacks on candiates I don't support. But if others here continue to sling mud, I can certainly can do the same.
And, I am at a complete loss to understand your thought process. Rudy is morally bankrupt!
Yep, and the anti-Rudy zealots slurp that stuff up like it's ambrosia.
We've had for several weeks now this dumping of anti-Rudy dirt on FR, all of it from a handful of disgruntled relatives, confused teenagers, and of course from those with an agenda (e.g. The New York Post).
The gullible will suck this up as "given truth", others might see the guttersnipe influence of New York City politics at hand.
Good Rudy Analysis [Rich Lowry]
From the Hotline:
We all know what happened the last time Giuliani faced bad press about his family in the midst of a heated campaign. He quit. What he learned in '00 SEN will determine how he responds to new reports about strained relations with his kids. And that response could say lots about the GOP frontrunner's WH'08 prospects.
In other words, it's not the report, it's the response. Strong candidates can overcome perceptions of family discord (even children's refusal to campaign) if they frame it as a common personal struggle, and don't dismiss it as irrelevant. As he made clear in '00, Giuliani thinks his family is quite relevant.
Then again, is this just the beginning of hard times for Giuliani? Rumors have circulated for weeks that rival camps are planning anti-Rudy oppo-drops on a range of topics. Following a month in which he made inroads to conservatives, is more bad press just around the corner? And if you're McCain or Romney, how do you respond? Pile on? Or back away?
Camp Rudy has never had the thickest skin. If last weekend was any indication, they might want to grow one.
