Ted Olson: Giuliani Would Nominate and Fight for Janice Rogers Brown

It’s not often that a campaign will comment on potential SC nominees. However Ted Olson, who will be heading Rudy’s legal advisory team, stated that Janice Rogers Brown is the kind of Justice Giuliani would approve of in an interview with ABC News‘ Jan Crawford:

Crawford: Would Rudy Giuliani nominate someone like Janice Rogers Brown—a staunch conservative, beloved by many on the Right and reviled by those on the Left?

Olson: “Yes,” he said. “I think he’d be impressed with her whole life story, her talent, her education–the way she pulled herself up from a very modest beginning, the inspiration her life would give to people—on top of her talent.”

Crawford: But would he be willing to wage the fight a Brown nomination would provoke?

Olson: “Absolutely,” Olson said. “Rudy has never walked away from a fight.”

As someone who believes that SC nominations are the most crucial prize in all of American politics, Team Rudy’s endorsement of JRB is most welcomed by me.

The Hon. Janice Rogers Browns sits atop my personal “dream list” of potential SC nominations along with Frank Easterbrook, Michael “The Luttigator” Luttig, and William Pryor.

In all of the 2008 GOP field, Rudy and his spokesmen have been the most explicit in the type of judge he admires (Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, and Alito) as well as what specific judges he would consider nominating (Janice Rogers Brown).

Thanks to Confirm Them for the tip.

Well, if he'll do that, I may consider him.

His private life gives me cold chills though. The news media will NOT give him a Clintonesque pass.

Funny how he always seems to have one of his surrogates implying things of this sort. Meanwhile, his democratic appointees outnumber his republican ones 8:1.

I think our nominee has to be the kind of guy who won't back down from a fight.

Well. This is a real plus.

I was mystified why President Bush didn't nominate Janice Rogers Brown. Yes, she's a very strong conservative. But put her forward, and let the Democrats and the socialists see how they enjoy bashing a self-made, high achieving black woman!

As I've said, Rudy means what he says, and as Olson says he's a fighter. If he made a few pledges like this it would mean a lot.

He is pro-abortion, anti-gun-rights and looks awful in a dress. I won't vote for him under any circumstances. There is no diference between him and Hillary.

Another "plus" in the Rudy column.

Frankly, I hear a lot of people saying what Rudy would do, but I'd prefer to hear it from him rather than those trying to rally support for him.

It's not the same thing. There ARE no conservative judges in New York. Or very, very few.

Yep and right now I like all of our candidates save for the two or three "I think" are unwilling to fight the WOT.

Janice Rogers Brown!!!!

Lib heads will explode, and that's a good thing. She is the John Bolton of the judiciary.

Here's what would mean something to me. If Rudy signs an oath on national TV in his own blood that he will nominate Janice Rodgers Brown to the first Supreme Court vacancy if he becomes president. Otherwise all the vouching for him that Ted Olsen does adds up to zip.

There is no diference between him and Hillary.

Really?

No difference on the WOT, Iraq, Supreme Court justices, or anything?

How about on taxes?

No difference at all?

Please send me the name of your planet because I want to designate it a No Fly Zone.

Ted Olson knows Rudy from the DOJ during Reagan's presidency. If anyone know who Rudy would pick it's Ted Olson.

Much of the concern about his past liberal leanings and future judiciary appointments might be alleviated if it was Giuliani who said this, and not Olson. I've read that he says he admires both Scalia and Alito, but he also vocally approved of Ginsburg as a good appointment.

Too bad those who stated they wouldn't mind if the demonrats took over the senate have no one to blame but themselves, so they sit around insisting Rudy wouldn't nominate conservative judges.

Those big mouthed knowitalls have to put their failure onto Rudy!

They had a chance to allow our President to nominate another conservative but their own egos got in the way.
