He has logged a few miles in an airplane. The inactivity is know to cause blood clots in the lower leg although I suspect Cheney had more room than your basic coach traveler.

Warfarin is an ingredient in certain rat eliminators.....It thins the blood, they literally lose all of it in due time.

It can happen at any age and without any previous medical problems.

I suspect although AF2 has room for you to walk about he would have spent a lot of time in a sitting position probably behind a desk reading through papers which is not good whilst flying.

It is easy to be wise with all things after the event I am sure in future travel he will move around more.

Warfarin certainly does have draw backs my father is on it and he has to be checked out every 4 - 6 weeks when he was on it before he did have nose bleeds but this time they seem to have the doseage more stable.

He would have spent a lot of time in a sitting position though both on the plane and at meetings travelling through time zones etc probably meant spent most of the time on the plane resting and not walking about bet that does not happen in future.

Cheney goes into hospital for blood clot. Sen. Reid asks that Cheney resign because he cannot do his job. When Senator Johnson is mentioned, Sen. Reid cries foul.

What page of the NY Times will this story appear? Place your bets.

Actually...rat poison is a massive does of warfarin. I found this out when my beloved beagle got a hold of some and was successfully treated with an "overdose" of vit K...after her stomach was emptied, of course.

What I meant was that about 5-10 days ago Puce Pelosi got angry with Cheney and accused him of questioning her patriotism (what patriotism?) while Cheney was in Australia. So she's calling the WH and demanding an explanation from the prez. Cheney retaliates and says that he's not questioning her patriotism (even though the rest of us certainly are) but questioning her judgment. It was so delicious. Anyway, that's what I meant when I said that ole Puce is clapping her hands out pure unadulterated spite which is normal from the socialist RATS.

If it comes to that, my thought would be Condi - she was the closest to both of them before she was moved to State. She's only gained stature and experience since then. And it would be difficult for Dems not to approve.

The original plan was a regime of warfarin to dissolve the clot and then change to a baby aspirin a day. Her blood is checked every two weeks, and the dose of warfarin is tweaked up or down. Apparently, her blood is not yet thin enough to switch to aspirin.

I don't believe the VP's life is in immediate danger. He has the best medical resources in the world. I believe the VP to be a true statesman, rather than a politician. A statesman does what is good for the country, as opposed to serving himself.
Remember, the political structure of the Presidency was founded on George Washington's refusal to accept the crown and leaving office after two terms. That principle stood until FDR and had to be reestablished with a constitutional amendment.
The VP might step down if he knew that Condi would be his successor. Since the race to put a woman and/or black into the White-house is tantamount to the US/Soviet race to the moon, Condi would be a double crown. And I think she could take the Presidency after wards. That would be the dems worst dream.

Put her on 400 units of Vitamin E, not the lab l-alpha stuff but the natural D-alpha stuff. It will thin the blood and fight clots at the same time.

Without the nasty side effects. Of course, the doctor may continue to prescribe the poison, "just in case".

If he does, get a second opionion, from a doctor who can justify the poison, not just hand it out.
