Thanks - I wasn't aware of Natto or its benefits.

I've been on Coumadin for about 5 years now. I remember very well just how excruciatingly painful that abdomenal clot was - it was like getting stabbed in the gut and leaving the knife in. I suffered through 4 days of hell before the Doctors finally found the culprit. Thankfully, they also put me on a Morphine drip at that time to alleviate the pain. All I can say is - THANK YOU GOD FOR MORPHINE!!

That stuff literally kept me from going mad.

Sarah Palin (AK), Mike Rounds (SD), Mitch Daniels (IN), Rick Perry (TX). If not Mitch McConnell.

President Nixon had a blood clot in his leg in 1974. Check out the MSM circa 1974 at Time. Their bias makes the 2007 MSM look like pikers.

My father died - swiftly and quietly - in the night from this after a fall breaking his pelvis. At 65. This is no minor issue. He had decades of good grandfather time left in him. Sniff.

I never thought or worried about it when Dennis Hastert was Speaker.

A few gems from DU:

"Maybe if we're lucky, we'll see heart attack #5"

"Flabby, pasty skin, riddled with phlebitis - a good republican body. God, I loved it."

I hope for his swift recovery. A blood clot will keep Cheney sidelined for a while though. They're nasty little buggers.

(Smacks head) Of course! Condi. That would be fantastic. Except she has no aspirations, and if Cheney (God forbid) did retire, we need someone warmed up for '08.

what if she took a baby aspirin a day--would the clot not have formed?

Just curious.

Someone with no aspirations would be a refreshing change from the current bunch of politico's campaigning hard with only 2 YEARS TO GO...

Blood thinners can be dangerous also, there is an alternative where the doctors insert something like a filter in the artery of the leg to stop the clot from traveling

Years ago, I particapated in a five year study of warfarin, I had to get blood tests every month and towards the of the study I started to have uncontrollable nose bleeds, they cut down on the dosage and later was put on an eighty MG aspirin once a day. It's good for thinning blood but has it's drawbacks.

I had my MI over ten years ago and still going strong and I wish the same for our VP.

Ole Puce Pelosi is clapping her hands.

Perhaps I misunderstand your post, but we should be clear that the Speaker does NOT succeed the VP should he die or resign when in office. She only succeeds (and only to the Presidency) if both the Pres and the VP die in office.

If Cheney died or stepped down, Bush would name his own VP. (Making for interesting speculations on the effect on the 2008 race.)
