Hasn't this movie already been made a few times? Isn't this version largely a cartoon? From the commercials, it looks more like a sci-fi movie.

It's that grotesque cinematography they use nowadays. Everything has to look like a videogame. It's one reason I have no interest in seeing this one.

Looks good to me.
People are getting all bent about what it means and historical accuracy. They need to chill a bit. It is a after all a movie based on a comic, based on an ancient battle.

I have no idea what the directors politics are.

But I sure enjoyed that interview.

They use real actors but then use studio effects to make it look surreal. Sin City was another examle of that stuff.

"Accurate" only applies to Hollyweird when it comes to describing Algore or Michael Moore movies...

I know what you are talking about, but this movie isn't one of those. This is different. Its a graphic novel come to the big screen. Graphic Novel=adult comic book, basically. Its freaky looking, one of the few movies I am going to make time to see.

"Hasn't this movie already been made a few times?"

There was a version called "The 300 Spartans" in the early 60's starring Richard Egan that I thought was pretty good.

Frank Miller was the man who single-handedly saved the comic book world. When he came out with "Batman: The Dark Night Returns" he breathed new life into the franchise and because of him the Batman movies were made and from there the studios took notice with Spiderman and Superman as well as X-Men being treated more adult and less kiddie-like. When he created Sin City it was based on another comic book of his and they wanted to keep the comic book look to it. In 300 (another of his creations) they have used a kind of color scheme that makes all the scenes look like a living breathing comic book. This is what was mentioned on one of those HBO futurities running now on HBO. I look forward to seeing it.

If you have ever seen Sin City then you will want to watch this movie. The artistic direction is great in Sin City and I hear that its even better in 300.

At least once: The Three-Hundred Spartans starring Richard Egan as Leonidas, 1962.

I really don't care if its a remake of 300 Spartans, I just don't want them to screw up one of the finest human stories of all time with a buncha sci-fi nonsense.

I am pretty sure it has no Sci-Fi in it. The movie seems pretty close to the comicbook version.
