That Film’s Real Message? It Could Be: ‘Buy a Ticket’ (Liberals upset about 300 movie)

LOS ANGELES, March 4 — Three weeks ago a handful of reporters at an international press junket here for the Warner Brothers movie “300,” about the battle of Thermopylae some 2,500 years ago, cornered the director Zack Snyder with an unanticipated question.

“Is George Bush Leonidas or Xerxes?” one of them asked.

The questioner, by Mr. Snyder’s recollection, insisted that Mr. Bush was Xerxes, the Persian emperor who led his force against Greek’s city states in 480 B.C., unleashing an army on a small country guarded by fanatical guerilla fighters so he could finish a job his father had left undone. More likely, another reporter chimed in, Mr. Bush was Leonidas, the Spartan king who would defend freedom at any cost.

I visit IMDB.com a lot, as I'm a movie buff. It's breathtaking to read the message boards there. The message boards for almost every single movie and TV show have a discussion about George Bush. You could read the message board for Gilligan's Island, Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Gone with the Wind and there would be posts about George Bush!

American liberals are more obsessed with George Bush than any other group of people being obsessed with anything in human history.

"300" is about a small group of heros defending civilization and (at least according to the movie) democracy against barbarians and traitors.

Unfortunately, the Spartans were nowhere near democratic, and Leonidas had to be shamed into entering the war. As for being "heroes" ... What they did at that pass, fighting against thousand-to-one odds to buy time for their allies is definitely something to remember 2500 years later, regardless of the personal and national proclivities of the individuals involved.

I believe one must be a CERTIFIED idiot to write for the Treason Media. It believes a Spartan lives in East Lansing.

However, this blatant anti-Iranian propaganda is just war mongering. :^)

It won't be historical, but it may be entertaining.

From the trailer, the speachifying about freedom reminds me of "Braveheart". I'm looking forward to the movie, while expecting a need to give some of the actual history parts of my brain the day off. I asked the son who was a history major to go with me & was shocked to find out he'd never heard of Thucydides.

Already got mine designed. It's just simple Greek lettering spelling out Molwn Labe. Checked on 3 sites for the proper spelling, and I'm pretty confident I'm ready. mine's going on my left forearm.

And they say women don't like action movies.

I keep the soundtrack in the car - love the power of the music to invoke a mood - state of mind.

In 'One Night With the King', Xerxes doesn't seem at all to be a barbarian??

Mine's a bit different. However, my workplace requires it to be hidden, so I'll put it on my torso somewhere...mine's 2 45's crossed under a skull with Molwn Labe over the top and bottom...it'll be hot shizzle...

My workplace is a little more lax on tatt's, but I wear long sleeve shirts anyway. And I've already got "Veritas" and "AEquitas" on my forearms. No one seems to mind.

I seldom go to movies, maybe one or two a year, tops. I think this will be on my must see list, though.
