Rudy Giuliani will appear at a high-profile press conference with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Monday during a two-day jaunt to raise campaign cash on the West Coast.
The former mayor and The Governator are scheduled to discuss gang violence and crime.

"the more I see a bitter man who might run as an independent."
I really hope not. That could quite possibly hurt the GOP big time or lead to the type of situation where no candidate gets 270 Electoral Votes. And I don't want to see Congress choose, that would be a mess and one heck of a fight.
We're too far out to know that. Nobody would have said Clinton had a chance in February of 2001. Heck, Bush wasn't even a candidate in February of 1999. And in February of 2003, Kerry was nothing, and he came within a few electoral votes, and a hundred thousand real votes, of winning the presidency.
Romney would actually have an excellent shot at beating any of the democrats, if he could solidify conservative support. So could Hunter if he could prove his leadership in the next year and show some appeal to independents.
I think McCain is toast, and have doubts about Gingrich, but Fred Thompson could possibly be an option (I'm not addressing his positions on issues as I don't know what they are).
Heck, I actually think Huckabee could turn out to be someone who could win, although I don't actually support him right now.
But seriously, Rudy isn't going anywhere. It's not like he's struggling and needs us all to rally around him NOW in order to pull him through. He'll be there next February if no conservative proves themselves in the next 11 months.
My GOP did his thesis on this.
You know, I'm not sure about that but that would be interesting to know.
Jim, the rats are going to vote rat and the Republicans are going to vote Republican - - nothing of any significance will change there. What Giuliani can scoop - - big time - - is that great big ignorant chattering class of know-nothings in "the middle". You know, those people you see on Leno's "Jaywalking" routines, and hear on Hannity's "Man on the Street" interviews - - people who cannot name the Vice President of the United States.
It's a celebrity world out there for better or worse (likely worse) and the same people who think it's cool to elect Arnold will elect "America's Mayor".
And you want to know a really quirky situation. Like I said, the Senate chooses the VP. If the Senate were to be tied 50-50, Dick Cheney would still officially be Vice President and would have the authority to break the tie and select his successor.
I bet you did! I lived on the east coast then
Rasmussen shows it even now in his general matchups - the Dem base is solid - Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Gore - solid.
I really need to sign up as a premium member there, he has alot of "crosstab" data that must be interesting.
Actually, the Electors don't cast their votes until December 18th. Those votes are then sealed until January 6th, when they are officially counted before a joint session of Congress, the new Congress that will have been sworn in 3 days before on January 3rd.
This is true.
There is a perception that this country is closely divided because one side is doing the counting. Then there is the bigger question: Divided over what? Partisan allegiance? Cultural mores? Religious precepts? Language?
Complicating the issue is the curious question of just what defines this country. Each passing year blurs the line between the traditional definition of the popular anachronism; Americans and the increasingly more accurate term US residents.
whatever the name of the fringe party Hillary tells Soros to fund - that's where he goes.
"Are victories, achieved through the use of political whores or liberal mercenaries, advancing conservatism?"
What a great couple of comments that penetrate all the redundantly fearful bull stuff!!!
That's all this constant drum-beat of surrender to left-leaning Repellicans is about... Just Plain FEAR!!!
It's people who have been calling themselves "conservative" for so long they forgot that "conservative" required stuff like standards, platforms and judgement, not just popularity and pragmatism! (to say nothing of the courage of their convictions)
Otherwise, why even have a conservative movement anymore? What would the purpose be? To lie back and enjoy the raping of conservative principles like we've been experiencing in spades in CA?
This quivering in fear of the leftist DemonicraTICK Party is an exercise in intellectual masturbation! If people are truly rooted in conservatism, then they support candidates that pursure the triumph of those principles through a particular political party.
We need the Republican Party and they need our votes and we're not ridin in the back of the danged bus or slaves on any plantation like so many factions of the DemonicraTICK Party!!!
So if that Party is too embarrassed to have us cranky conservatives in their stupid "big tent" with all those other liberals and depraved deviants, then tell the dumbells to just let us know and we'll just have to figure somethin else out! That's all there is too it!!! (this bickerin is gittin old!)
Rudy might protect the country, but we have no reason to believe he will do the other two. Besides, protecting the country is the the constitutional responsiblity of the
President.
On the social issues, Rudy is AWOL on conservative positions. And he was as mayor of NYC as well.
That is not specious nor disingenuous. It is fact.
I lived next door to NY state while Rudy was mayor.
He got rid of the sqeegee guys, cleaned up Times Square, beefed up the police and kept Arafat from Lincoln Center. Like I said, he was a good sheriff.
Other than that, he his not Presidential material, and I am bewildered by everyone's love affair with him. To call him a Republican in the face of the opposing evidence is laughable to me.
And lastly, please learn to disagree in a more agreeably manner. We are all entitled to our opinions.
Rudy Schwarzenegger, two liberals in a pod. Won't get one dime from me.
"It's people who have been calling themselves "conservative" for so long they forgot that "conservative" required stuff like standards, platforms and judgement, not just popularity and pragmatism! (to say nothing of the courage of their convictions)"
Our party has apparently deserted us.
please disregard my last line of post 115 reply to you.
It was not meant for you--you were very civil in your post.
My apologies.
McCain is going to go nowhere!
Huckabee isn't going to attract what he needs to win either and once he went into the "I'm just a poor boy from Hope" act, I cringed. How many others would have that reaction as well, I wonder....after Slick Willie having used that first!
Romney? Yes, he has a chance, unless the demonizing of his Mormon faith takes hold.
Thompson? I'll wait to see if he even gets into this now, because, if he doesn't do it soon, forget him.
Okay, but it wouldn't matter, since if the election is such a mess, that it has to be thrown to the House to decide, I doubt that the GOP gets the majority back.
