Anger on Display Among Conservative PAC Audience
Sunday , March 04, 2007 By Kelley Beaucar Vlahos
WASHINGTON America's conservatives are mad and they're not going to take it anymore.
That was the message the movement's leaders delivered throughout the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. last week.
One after another, conservatives told FOXNews.com that they are angry, irritated, frustrated and in some cases depressed. And the target of their angst and ire is none other than the Republican Party, which wants and needs their support to win the 2008 presidential election and avoid losing more seats in the Senate and House next election.
Many of these conservatives, whose national stars began to rise with the presidential election of Ronald Reagan in 1980, described the GOP's state of affairs in Washington with words like "failed," defeated" and "in the grave."
"The Republican Party apparently has a death wish, but that doesn't mean we conservatives have to go along with it," Richard Viguerie, a movement veteran who helped elect Reagan, said during his wildly-received speech delivered Thursday. "Let's focus on the conservative movement, not the GOP."
"We've got to stop being lackeys of the Republican Party. We've got to be a third force," said Bill Greene, head of RightMarch.com, an online activist network. He is running as a Republican in the June special election to replace the late Rep. Charlie Norwood, R-Ga., who died of cancer on Feb. 13.
Several candidates vying for the GOP nomination appeared at the conference. But one Arizona Sen. John McCain was notably absent, and the frontrunner in generic opinion polls former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani acknowledged to the crowd that he has differences with his audience on social issues.

Believe me, if this continues, all contributions will fall. If the average Joe gets disgusted, so will the major players. They have a lot more at stake and I believe it's in their interests to have a real conservative in the game.
It's the chili dogs.
I get tired of people complaining about who is running in the General election. By the time the General Election comes about, the RINOs are better than the Rats any day.

The words just came to me ... IMHO, Newt has proved himself to be a better visionary and theoretician than an actual leader, so I again agree with the post I responded to that he would be better suited to being a chief of staff or very senior policy adviser.
Two, maybe 3 conservatives out of 9 does not make a majority.
What I find most offensive about Rudy is none of the above. I dislike the gun-grabbing and the illegal alien enabling. He disregarded the Constitution in regards to the 2nd amendment by his gun grabbing and disregarded federal law by making NYC a sanctuary city. No one gets to pick which laws and which part of the Constitution they want to uphold.
Hi Bill, I understand your hesitation. Think about this. Hunter has been head of committees that have gotten legislation passed. He's able to get co sponsors and get the job done. For 27 years. Not many congressmen actually get legislation passed, or get their viewpoint out there on a given subject. When Dubai happened, Hunter brought attention to it. When they wanted to sell Long Beach to China, Hunter told us and stopped it. Hunter actually GOT a fence built on the border. I could cite many more examples.
Now, it has been posted here that Hunter has NEVER gotten a piece of legislation into law. LIE. Please check his record.

You are giving me links to Rudy threads!!! That has been my whole point. If you come on Rudy threads just to bash - how do you expect to be received?
That is interesting. Thanks for posting that.
What do you think of Fred Thompson? I could support most anyone - but McCain(s).
which cities and local municipalities use their police forces to directly enforce immigration laws? here is an interview with Rudy on the topic:
http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2006/08/rudy_on_immigration.html
you'll see that its a practical approach to running a city, in a country where the federal government does very little to deport illegals. some highlights:
GIULIANI: The Immigration and Naturalization Service would only deport 1,500 to 2,000 a year. So I said to myself I have 398,000 illegal immigrants because the federal government is not going to do anything about this. It can't. So I had to figure out how do I deal with it so that I regularize them, so that I.
O'REILLY: So how did you do that?
GIULIANI: They don't commit crimes. They don't - well, we made sure that their children were allowed to go to school for which we were criticized. But if I didn't do that, I would end up with children on the streets. If I had just said well, illegal immigrants can't have their children in school. And we tried to make their lives reasonable.
GIULIANI: But you've got to take a practical approach to it. There are 12 million illegals in this country. We got to stop illegals from coming in. And a tremendous amount of money should be put into the physical security that's needed to do that.
People and technology. At the same time, you've got this tremendous number of people who are below the table. As long as you don't know who they are, as long as you can't get them to come forward, you can't identify them, you can't photograph them, you have to figure out who they are, then you have a dangerous situation.
There are 4 hardcore conservatives. The critical one is the next appointee.
we have 4.
I will frequent any thread that is interesting. I will speak up if Rudy people start attacking again, or if they tell lies.
Was it on purpose or thru stupidity?.. because it did happen..
RINOs question that it even happened.. here on FR we know that it did happen..
The republican party is fractured.. just in time for Hitlery..
Occams Razor says it was On PURPOSE... few things happen by accident in the White House..
K. Harris was in bed with the RINOs. She introduced the same bill that Richard Lugar introduced in the senate about moving our borders to the southern Mexican border. That is what is wrong with RINOs. They think they are so smart that they can fool people into thinking they are conservatives.
I hope so too.
Instead of whining, blaming others for conservatives self created problems, and trying to destroy the republican party, why not come up with a compelling message and compelling leaders?
We expect the Demonrats to pander to every extreme and bizarre group. Gays are now a key part of their base. But they aren't part of the conservative base. It's one of many things which make conservatives think Rudy is not "one of us." (And he isn't.) The other factor is, as I posted somewhere else, that this is not dignified and mature conduct for the nation's Commander-in-Chief. If I were a soldier risking death every day, I would wonder: Is this what I'm fighting for?
Can you imagine any Republican President before now putting on drag and marching in "gay liberation" parades? Reagan? Nixon? Ford? Bush? Eisenhower? Can you even imagine a Democrat like JFK, Truman, or FDR wallowing in this crap? Of course not. How far are we supposed to sink, anyway?
