A suspected leader of the group Islamic State in Iraq, which has ties to the al-Qaeda terrorist network, was detained in northern Iraq on Sunday, Iraqi security forces reported. Muharib Mohammed Abdullah, aka Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, was arrested in a joint raid by Iraqi and US soldiers in the city of Duluiya.
"This is a great success for the Iraqi security forces, comparable to the killing of Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi," the Salaheddin provincial administration in the town of Tikrit said in a statement.
Abdullah is a former legal expert from the city of Balad, north of Baghdad.
The Islamic State in Iraq organization claimed responsibility Saturday for the murder of 18 policemen.
Al-Zarqawi, the former leader of the al-Qaeda terrorist network in Iraq, was killed in the summer of 2006 by a US airstrike.

My comment was in the spirit of Hannibal Lectures. The character in Silence of the Lambs made a crude remark to Clarisse to which she replied, "That sounds like something Meigs would say." Hannibal, who'd coaxed Meigs into committing suicides, noted "Not anymore."
You wrote that Sheikh Abu Hamza al-Muhajir "is the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq." I, with great satisfaction and pride in the Coalition Forces note for the sake of clarity and correct verb tense, that he is "not anymore."

Interesting event coming on the heels of the deputy of the former Islamic Iranian Minister of War arriving in Turkey from Syria and disappearing - nobody knows where or how and still missing - though speculation exists that he was "picked up" by the Mossad or "Christians in Action".
Regardless of how this asset may have fallen into our hands, the Baghdadi catch in Northern Iraq falls more neatly into place, does it not?
The above Iranian asset would have been in a position to set up a meet, though this is pure conjecture and speculation on my part.
Great news and stride forward.
