If Giuliani can get through primaries, he stacks up well For a guy commonly regarded as a hero after 9/11, Mayor Giuliani is too quickly dismissed by presidential handicappers. Here's why he deserves a second look.

I'm trying to understand the fervor for Rudy.

Part of it (at least in my case) is simply a reaction to the arrogant who arrive at these threads with ignorant one-liners, which are designed to cast Giulians supporters as liberals, leftists, pro-gay, pro-abortion, etc.

Giuliani is my third choice, yet I find myself defending him because in a pinch he might be the right guy for the times.

Not here but the sheeple still thinks the traitor was conservative.

Newt allowed BJ to grab the reins on conservative ideas because BJ CLINTON kept one finger to the way the wind was blowing while he hid the sellout of America.

In 1000's of vote cast all the way up and down ballots in Tx since 1988 I have only ever vote for two pro abortion candidates, one a protest, two a case were both sides were pro abortion. I hope never to be the position to have to make a third. I will not with Rino Rudy.

Did you read the follow up questions when the pollster asked if they knew Rudy's positions on key items?

Make your own mind up don't follow what is being touted as the leader by a small percentage of very liberal Freepers.

I don't think Newt was alone in allowing Clinton to sell us out.

Oops.

"it's pretty darn hard to see how Rudy does NOT win the whole shootin' match."

Proper english is not a requirement to post here at FR, as is shown repeatedly on this thread, but sometimes it's required to make the point one intends to make.

"Unfortunately for some the simple is sometimes too complex."

That's my fear. They could not grasp it in `92 and they will not grasp it `08. Hillary is banking on it.

What malcontent will become Hillary's 5% solution?

McCain?
Tancredo?
Hunter?

What "pure conservative" or ego-maniac will take the Clinton bait (remember those govt contracts that flowed to Perot's companies from the Clinton White House?) and throw the third-party hissyfit that she needs to win in `08?

Jane Wyman divorced Ronald Reagan not the other way around and it was something that he vehemently opposed. That tart broke his heart.

Rudy's second wife starred in "The Vagina Monologues." The mother of his children. If that's not grounds for divorce, I don't know what is. Now he's with a true helpmeet and a woman who loves him.

What about Newt? Wife #3. He's declaring something on Sept. 30.

What about Fred Thompson? He's on wife #2.

His crossover appeal to Reagan Democrats more than offsets the Freepers who set themselves on fire.

Agreed 100 percent.

Since that's inevitable, I think I'll make this my last Rudy thread for a while.

Why do you want to vote for a liberal?

Uh, because he's not a liberal.

"Rudy's second wife starred in "The Vagina Monologues." The mother of his children. If that's not grounds for divorce"

Sounds like a good reason to send her packing to me. But then again, it's always up to the couple concerned. If they have irreconcilable differences, why continue with the marriage?

The reason I site the FR poll is because, people at FR tend to be better informed, more active and more likely to contribute financially then the average 'likely to vote' crowd.

With so much time before the primaries, I'd much rather be the conservative darkhorse candidate with a lot of passionate supporters, like the ones you're finding here at FreeRepublic, than a liberal/moderate who has been endorsed by the MSM and has the early lead in the national polls.

I for one will not vote for him and will got third party.

This logic (or lack thereof) gave us Bill Clinton -- good call.

My father used to refer to this behavior as, "cutting your nose off to spite your face."

Of course he wasn't but I can not get the picture of Newt shaking BJ's hand (who knows where it had been) allowing BJ to take credit for the results of many fine conservatives work.
