Earth's Crust Missing In Mid-Atlantic
"Scientists have discovered a large area thousands of square kilometers in extent in the middle of the Atlantic where the Earths crust appears to be missing. Instead, the mantle - the deep interior of the Earth, normally covered by crust many kilometers thick - is exposed on the seafloor, 3000m below the surface."

Could the event that caused this huge section of crust to go missing have been responsible for the change in thermohaline circulation that occurred at the end of the period known as the "Younger Dryas" in which the temperature in Greenland rose 10 degrees in a decade. (Remember there was no industrial pollution at the time)LOL

How does this relate to the Mariana'sTrench.
Rove, you magnificent bastard!
Lets see here...
We've know for decades the the crust is thin at the mid-Atlantic ridge. That's because this is where the earth's plates (the crust) are created and where they move apart. Sea-Floor Spreading is a dynamic of Plate Tectonics, which evolved from the Continental Drift theory.
Nothing new to see here so move along. ;-)
And the time frames were far beyond what Algor, the UN, and other such ilk are scaremongering for "global warming".
The Marianas Trench is a 'subduction zone' where the Pacific Plate goes back into the Earth. It literally gets destroyed under the Philippine Plate(?). So Earth plates are created at oceanic ridges and subducted at trenches.
Does this mean we should trade in our carbon credits for crust credits ?
Heh, the article implies it's responsible for the Mideaval Warm period. I.e., mining data and tweakig it to serve Global Warming. As if the magma just started flowing 1,000 years ago.
That will kill the little fishes.
"I thought this was an interesting development.
If I remember correctly this was postulated more
than a century ago by a Republican Congressman
from Minnesota."
---
Wow, I am impressed that you remember something
that happened more than a century ago ...
But seriously, who are you talking about?
That's what I was thinking.
The mid Atlantic Ridge has been well known for an awful long time.
What is the "news" in this "discovery"?
The thermohaline circulation is a global ocean circulation. It is driven by geographic differences in the density of sea water, which are controlled by temperature (thermal) and salinity (haline). In the North Atlantic this circulation transports warm and salty water from the tropics to the north.
Oceanic ridges are areas of volcanic activity, areas that are heated. Oh yeah, it plausible to say it plays a salient part in ocean water convection.
An AlGore discovery! ;-)
"All of your crusties are belong to us!"
Save The Crust!!
People are tired of Global Warming?
The Emmys were last week?
It's been nearly 24 hours since FOX had a car chase to alert us to?
Another democrat got caught with cash in the 'fridge and this might siphon off interest?
Hillary is down in the polls?
They caught Ben Laden?
They caught Ben Laden at a Starbucks?
...........
I thought thinner crusts were to be expected in areas of plate spreading?
it's not thinner crust. it's lack of crust.
That's some real estate...Donald Trump?
