How does this relate to the Mariana'sTrench. The Marianas Trench is a 'subduction zone' where the Pacific Plate goes back into the Earth. It literally gets destroyed under the Philippine Plate(?). So Earth plates are created at oceanic ridges and subducted at trenches.
