Romney wins narrowly while Rudy Giuliani (a client) finishes a strong second:
Romney 21%
Giuliani 17%
Brownback 15%
Gingrich 14%
McCain 12%
On combined first and second place choices, it's a win for Rudy:
Giuliani 34%
Gingrich 30%
Romney 30%
That's not too shabby. Romney's people spent thousands of dollars getting their folks to CPAC. It seemed like every other person in line for Romney's speech yesterday had an official Mitt t-shirt on -- and he certainly was being attacked as though he was the man to beat. Even so, Rudy manages to pull off a near-win by just showing up and has the most first and second place votes.
The question of whether conservatives can support Rudy Giuliani was answered pretty decisively this week.
I just got a report from someone from CPAC and said the final results were what you first posted.
Thanks! Have pinged the Rudy for President 08 Ping list!
Huh? Fair Opinion posted a poll from Georgia on Thursday, not the CPAC.
You guys don't have to mislead.
No surprise. It is a different poll and we just have some misleading pushing of information from PhiKapMom and FairOpinion. It is pretty typical misinformation game being played.
Okay, thanks for the link. Looks like it was Newsmax that blew the call. Again, no offense to either Romney or Hewitt.
1st Choice Romney 21 Giuliani 17 Brownback 15 Gringrich 14 McCain 12 2nd Choice Gringrich 16 Giuliani 16 Romney 9 Brownback 8 McCain 8 Combined 1st & 2nd Choice Giuliani 34 Gingrich 30 Brownback 30 Brownback 24 McCain 20 Historical comparison 1st-2nd choice 2000 Bush 40 Bauer 33 Dole 26 Forbes 20 Quayle 13
The Ann Coulter effect LOL
That was the Citizens United poll, not the "official" CPAC one.
Looks like Freerepublic Admin corrected the misleading title:
Citizens United Straw Poll: Conservatives Favor Newt Gingrich

And when does THIS happen in elections?
You are correct. There were two.
Citizens United ran a poll as well.
Are these the same sources who tell you about Mormons too? LOL!
They should change their name to the "Neoconsevative Political Action Conference".
It's not that simple. The exhibitors and attendees run the spectrum of the Right. Some campaigners get their people out.
Hunter is getting blackballed by these clowns. They're gonna shut him out of the entire election process because he's new and doesn't have as much political capitol.
Romney is the most polished public speaker and will gain a lot of people just on that alone who don't know about some his position changes and political history.
Does anyone really think that Giuliani and McCain didn't spend money and effort getting their people to CPAC?
True, Romney may have done it better. He has a well-earned reputation for out-organizing and our-executing the competition. That's how he succeeded so well in business.
Giuliani and McCain should pay close heed.
That is amazing since Rudy was not announced to be a speaker until right before CPAC was to start and didn't have a large contingent on the ground for CPAC.
Wonder if CPAC is not going to be declared it is run by a bunch of RINO's now?
I don't know that it matters, but the majority of voters were male, students, age 18-25.
