SAN FRANCISCO -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says he has struggled to turn himself from a joke-cracking bodybuilder and actor into a politician able to muster support for what he calls the big issues.
--snip--
In the interview Schwarzenegger described himself as a "big-issue guy."
--snip--
But knowing California cannot solve these problems alone, he has joined forces with four nearby states to fight global warming and discussed with Bush using the state as a catalyst for resolving America's health care problems, he said.
Last year Schwarzenegger, accusing Washington of lacking leadership on the environment, paired with British Prime Minister Tony Blair to fight global warming.
BUSH AND WAR
Schwarzenegger said he believed Bush was trying to get things done in the two years left of his presidency as he coped with the war in Iraq and the drain on the country's finances.
"He is struggling because it is very complex to get some of those things done," the governor said.
As for the war, while Schwarzenegger said the United States could not walk away from its friends in that embattled country, he said it was important to set a timeline for withdrawing. In January, he urged Iraqis be self-reliant by the end of 2007.
"We have to let the American people know that we are in this amount of time, this is not going to be another Vietnam or Korea, that we are going to get stuck forever until some major disaster happens where everything goes south," he said.
The governor, whose state ranks among the world's top 10 economies, said he had learned doing his job that he had to represent more than just Republicans.

BWAHAHAHA!!!!
Funniest headline i've seen in a week!
What, it's not supposed to be funny?
Never mind.
"Huh. Me Tarzan! Global Warming, him big issue! Me break his neck!"
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus

...for what he calls the big issues.

His big issues are whatever Maria tells the RINO he should work on.
I don't wish to offend people from California, but over here in Europe we fail to understand how any one like Arnold Schwarzenegger can become governor.
He's not stupid, few Austrians are stupid and furthermore, he seems to be a nice and humoristic guy.
However, it's all too obvious that he lacks the ability to communicate his ideas about "big issues" if he has such ideas at all. He's not like Ronald Reagan (a politician most stupid people in Europe still are underestimating).
I'm not Austrian, but these lyrics by Austrian pop group EAV (Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung) ought to tell you something about how Austrians themself view Arnold (from the lyrics to the song "An der Copacabana", a favourite one of mine):
(My translation:)
I am a blend, and a quite appealing one it is, between Albert Einstein and Arnold Schwarzenegger,
So far so good, but there's one small problem, I have Schwarzenegger's brain and a body like Einstein"
(The original words:)
"Ich bin ein Mischung, die ist ziemlich lecker,
aus Albert Einstein und Arnold Schwarzenegger
soweit so gut, doch das Dumme ist nur, ich hab Schwarzenegger´s Hirn und von Einstein die Figur"
Illegal immigration is a "federal issue," but California can have its own fuel standards, environmental and foreign policies.
Just shut up, Arnold.
I can hardly wait until he appears and testifies to the Senate EnviroGreenumental Committee alongside Al Gore, Tony Blair, Bill Clinton and others about the effects of man on the global environment and how we must combat 'it'.
As Senator Boxer bangs her gavel.. and this GW farce continues.
Not to worry. His speechwriter, probably RF Kennedy, Jr., will write some fine testimony for him.
I'm sure it will be a first class puppet show!
In the meantime...

Global Warming: The momentum has shifted to climate skeptics
Saturday, March 3, 2007
Schwarzenegger the actor is fading from memory. He's done a great job of reinventing himself. His whole life has been one of pursuing ever-greater heights, and achieving them. I admire that.
California's economy is about to take a huge nosedive. The following will doom it to the point where only Mexicans will take over in the next 5 years:
1. Illegal Immigration
2. Over regulation of businesses
3. Taxes upped to 10%
4. Universal Health Care
5. High gas prices
6. Housing bust
What?
I see that coming for the whole country.....ya'll are ahead of the curve....cheer up! ;)
As a Kennedy socialist.
wow..

MEDIA CITED CLIMATE 'EXPERTS' BLAME PRESIDENT BUSH FOR HURRICANES & WRONGLY PREDICT 2006 SEASON
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. blamed Hurricane Katrina on the Bush Administration's failure to ratify the Kyoto Protocol. "As Hurricane Katrina dismantles Mississippi's Gulf Coast, it's worth recalling the central role that Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour played in derailing the Kyoto Protocol and kiboshing President Bush's iron-clad campaign promise to regulate CO2."
Yeah--he's doing a great job. Turning California over to the UN and helping the CA GOP morph into the ÖVP.
