On Ann Coulter - Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic. (conservatives respond)

Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.

I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, who’s shocked? She obviously can’t behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. It’s not a lack of intelligence. It’s an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if it’s unflattering.

(For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s audio of her calling John Edwards a “faggot” at CPAC today.)

---

Michelle Malkin -

***4:15pm update***

Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."

A smattering of laughter.

Not from this corner.

Crickets chirping.

---

Bryan Preston of 'Hot Air' -

Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gore’s green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.

Here’s what she said.

“I’d say something about John Edwards, but if you say ‘faggot’ you have to go to rehab.”

I’m no fan of John Edwards, but that’s just a stupid joke. It’s over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.

Last year it was “raghead.” This year it’s calling John Edwards a “faggot.” Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.

Thanks, Ann.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.

I think Ann Coulter speaks for herself. Sometimes she makes edgy remarks. BFD!

The downside, Ann`s remarks about John Edwards overshadowed her remarks about Rudy Giuliani. They got little coverage.

Here's a snippet from Slate.com on what Ann Coulter had to say about Rudy Giuliani. Still looking for the FULL transcript of Coulter`s remarks at the CPAC.

"Giuliani is very liberal," she said. "When this country gets to the point when both candidates support abortion, we can hang it up as a country." Later she ticked off some of his negatives. "He opposed welfare reform … has the Democrat position on civil unions for gay couples, and he opposed Bill Clinton's impeachment, which is a big thing with me." Later she circled back to remark that his "list of negatives makes Nancy Pelosi look like the rational middle."

Edwards is a pathetic, effeminate ambulance chasing ass.

Careful. The PC crowd on the thread will throw a hissy.

What kind of pansy ass are you? Hunter has nothing to do with this. Ann has a long history of saying things far more controvesial than calling Edwards a pansy ass, which she did not even do. JUST HER BEING THERE is enough to "associate" CPAC with her inflammatory rhetoric. Ann will be invited back again, and guess what, she'll probably deliver another politcally incorrect zinger. ANd you'll whine, yet again. Go join the dems if you are so insulted.

Ann effectively took apart Giuliani, but that will never matter now because that stupidity urge got the best of her.

If only Ann would be more NUANCED in her approach, like Obama, Gore or X42, then she could get by with saying awful things like her following statement about John Breckgirl Edwards.

“I’d say something about John Edwards, but if you say ‘faggot’ you have to go to rehab.”

Come to think of it all three have said FAR WORSE about our TROOPS and REPUBLICANS in general than this statement by ANN.

What she said was "INSENSITVE"........and only the "SENSITIVE" are bothered by it!!

I have been called far worse growing up as a SICILIAN in the 40's!!

I guess it's a waste of time to even mention this. It will never get through the thick skulls.

"None so blind as those who will not see." For whatever reason - some here like the idea of Ann ridiculing others. It is a horrible image of what conservatism is, imo. And Ann is seen as the symbol of what CPAC stands for because she was an invited speaker at the convention.

To me, she is not a true conservative because of her lack of character in her treatment of others.

When was the word "faggot" ever acceptable to describe a homosexual?

Since 1791, when the Bill of Rights was made part of the Constitution.

If there was an amendment adopted giving perverts a special status, I managed to miss it.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press...

Michelle Malkin is correct. Ann's comments are not helpful. I would hope that in the future she is not invited to speak at CPAC. She has become a political liability.

I agree. Now she is seen as the representative of what conservatives stand for - and that they like to make fun of people.

The PC crowd can have at it. Politics isn't a friendly business. Ask the Clintoons. Maybe they should spend their time worrying about that.

I think a lot of conservatives are beyond annoyed by 7 years of the libtards calling President Bush and his family names and we just want to hit back.

"He is a faggot."

What makes you think Edwards is gay? He is married (for a number of years) and has kids. I don't understand the accusations. What have I missed?

You are so right Moonbeam -- I mean, Sunsong.

And if I recall correctly, this was the very thing at the top of every exit poll listing why people didn't vote for the GOP last November.

Republicans like to make fun of people!!!!!

One of the things that is so glaringly obvious here - is that you, and others, resort to personal attacks almost immediately when someone doesn't agree with you. And using personal attacks rather than discussing the issue is a liberal tactic.

Read the posts on these pages - those who like the idea of Ann Coulter ridiculing and making fun of people - also personally attack those who don't like Ann's lack of character. This whole thing is very eye-opening to me.
