On Ann Coulter - Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic. (conservatives respond)

Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.

I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, who’s shocked? She obviously can’t behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. It’s not a lack of intelligence. It’s an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if it’s unflattering.

(For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s audio of her calling John Edwards a “faggot” at CPAC today.)

---

Michelle Malkin -

***4:15pm update***

Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."

A smattering of laughter.

Not from this corner.

Crickets chirping.

---

Bryan Preston of 'Hot Air' -

Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gore’s green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.

Here’s what she said.

“I’d say something about John Edwards, but if you say ‘faggot’ you have to go to rehab.”

I’m no fan of John Edwards, but that’s just a stupid joke. It’s over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.

Last year it was “raghead.” This year it’s calling John Edwards a “faggot.” Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.

Thanks, Ann.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.

Very much agreed. There are few people, IF ANY, who can match Ann Coulter's wit. She shouldn't stoop to using the other "F" word!

Ann favors Romney and she could be a great assest to his campaign. He may not be able to use her help now. Not for a long while. It is quite a pity.

I adore Ann and will never abandon her. But that doesn't mean from time to time we cannot disagree with her or offer some constructive criticism.

Interesting that neither Ron Paul nor Duncan Hunter are mentioned in that article.

John Edwards isn't "butch" enough to be a faggot.

We need a portico to smoke cigars, champagne would be nice.

Party on the patio. Crullers and soma, around the clock.

Sure she was.

No, she wasn't. Faggot is derogatory term for homosexuals. It's also a derogatory term for heterosexual men who behave effeminately. What do you think she meant concerning Edwards?

She was engaging in baseless, inflammatory speculation.

No, what she was doing was make a very important and relevant point about a group of phonies who were doing real harm to real people and this country.

As I recall, the Jersey Girls were running around, campaigning for Kerry, and got very little attention.

I recall them very well. They got a lot of attention, and not just for the Kerry campaigning but for their testimony before the 9/11 Commission.

There were a lot of Coulter's critics who used those words as an opening to engage in baseless speculation about Coulter's personal life.

That was occuring long before she wrote Godless. In fact, she was the subjects of death threats and at least one physical assault. You ever hear her whine about it?

Certainly there were many factors that hurt the GOP, but I think comments like Coulter's helped to make the GOP look like the bad guys.

That's a fair point of view, although I don't agree with it, and regardless Ann, unlike Michael Moore, has not been lying about anything.

The reasons for the 2006 loss:

--Republican legislators acting like pandering Democratic hacks

--Attacks such as those made on Mark Foley and Curt Weldon and Rick Santorum -- and in Santorum's case none of them were deserved -- (did you see what the left is trying to do to his name?)

--Unremitting negative coverage of the Iraq War.

--More conservative Democratic candidates.

Ann Coulter's book had nada to do with the loss.

Not the sort of thing I'd want to post, but to each his own.

This doesn't address what I posted.

"Too late - Dr. Eckleburg has fully matured into an honest respected gadfly"

"Say it isn't so, please, it can't be. That would mean that we have to grow up too and we are too young to be taken seriously or to accept the responsibility for our words, thoughts and actions. Can't you do something to raise the age or at least leave it to our peers to decide?"

LOL - Sorry, we have been banished from Never Land.  Having seen the Light, heard the Truth, and witnessed reality, we can not go back.  As grown-ups, we must now take charge and bring order to chaos and reveal to all that right is right and left is wrong.  (Unless you are a Southpaw that is, then South is right - see The Left-Handed Gun [Free Republic] , #26#28 , & #30 )

the rest of us sane, reasonable people, who treat people with respect regardless of their opinions

Opinions and practices are two different things.

If you think it is reasonable for a grown man to cram foreign objects or bodily appendages into his digestive tract and call it love, then you are the one who needs serious help...
