Either that, or he tricked conservatives into voting for him...

All 20% of them? MA is even more a Dim state than NYC is a Dim city.

I am sorry, but went back to Spartanburg news sites and couldn't find it! Did find articles about McCain with 164. Sorry I didn't post the link to begin with!

"America's Mayor" was a term created by the Murdoch Media. Remember that New York is NOT part of America. Like Puerto Rico, it is American politically, not culturally?

If you think Rudy is honest, do a google sometime on his close friends Ray Harding and Bernie Kerick.

I'm for Mitt but I won't trash Rudy.

But I root for the Mets and the Yankees, so it's understandable.

I don't want Guiliani or Romney. I could go with Hunter, Brownback, Huckabee or Gingrich.

Anyone on this thread attending CPAC? I had hoped to meet some FR members but they have no booth in the exhibit hall! First time I remember that being the case. Very surprising.

Great event but if they are going to have so many thousands of people attend, they need to go to the convention center.

As for Hillary: yes she is awful. No I do not agree that we should sellout on conservative issues or personal honesty just to keep Hillary out. If we do that, we don't deserve the power

Thank you, thank you.

SC results:

John McCain: 164

Rudy Giuliani: 162

Duncan Hunter: 158

Sam Brownback: 85

Mitt Romney: 80

Mike Huckabee: 21

______________________________________

Now, if only all the conservatives would wise up and unite behind the one conservative who can beat Hillary -- Mitt Romney -- the numbers would look this:

Romney: 344

McCain: 164

Giuliani: 162

I think it may be a waste of Prilosec to be for anyone yet. I would like to see Newt get into it, or some other successful conservative, in order to move the debate in a conservative direction. I am, however, against any and all RINOS. I'm not going to vote for a RINO, Hilary or no Hilary.

Bravo! And the nervous nellies in the conservative movement focussed on her use of the word "faggot." Oh why, oh why, do some conservatives have to give the libs ammo by speaking ill of a fellow conservative? We ought not to enforce political correctness for the libs, period. I remind every one of the 11th Commandment: Thou Shalt Not Speak Ill Of A Conservative.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus

That is some pretty creative accounting you did, but I definitely like the way you think. :-) Mitt gained votes faster than McCain suddenly "found" his 50 votes to go from third to first in the SC straw poll.

Here's some more reaction to Mitt's speech at CPAC from Kathryn Jean Lopez at NRO:

The Turnaround

Romney's addressing CPAC now and oh boy is this different than the disappointing speech he gave in late January at the NRI conservative summit. A few red-meat lines: "It's time to take government apart and put it back together." Wants to make it "simpler, smarter, and smaller." He said, "I will fight to repeal McCain-Feingold." Talking about the marriage fight he said "It is the people who are sovereign in America, not a few folks in black robes." He talks confidently about the war and has a good line about how Pelosi and Reid shouldn't be dictating frontline strategy. He's gotten a ton of applause and has kept a steady beat. This is a speech — ending on a forceful, adamant, ticked-off but optimistic about the future note. "Our traditional values" are on the line, we're under attack, and the government is a mess and he's not going to stand for it, dammit.

This is the speech he should have given in January at our summit. This is the speech he should have given when he launched the campaign. This speech — this is a rallying speech.

View a video of a crowd of Mitt supporters at CPAC after the speech.

Bravo! And the nervous nellies in the conservative movement focussed on her use of the word "faggot."

She actually puts this over deliberately. Like her remarks after 9/11 ("invade their countries, kill their leaders, convert them to Christianity"), Ann intends to offend with the outrageous. Much as the Hollywood libs, she goes to the extreme deliberately, just to outrage the libs. She's done this for a long time. The one that always comes to mind for me was back when they used to have her on MSNBC fairly regular and she kept describing Xlinton's rendezvous with Monica always ending in a mad dash for the sink. She made all sorts of porcelain jokes. And, of course, it was all in the Starr report so they couldn't deny it. She went nuts on 'em and their heads were exploding about every minute or two.

But our Ann is also a lawyer. She wouldn't say anything she couldn't back up or had no concern that she would be challenged on it. Yes, she put her mark on Edwards today. But don't expect to hear anything more about it. News blackout.

And Giuliani is very very liberal and when this country gets to the point (and I have a love letter to him in my current book, Godless, what he did for New York was magnificent) but when this country gets to the point where both presidential candidates support abortion, I think we can hang it up as a country."

It's pathetic that Sean Hannity and Michael -- both Christians -- can't come to the same conclusion and oppose this pro-abortion, pro-homosexual liberal.

She probably said it because Mitt is our best realistic candidate from a conservative POV. She defined the 'realistic' set as Gingrich, Guliani, McCain, and Romney.

Her reasoning is sound. You can go for an electable non-conservative (Rudy) or a non-electable conservative (Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul, etc.). Mitt at the intersection of sufficient conservativeness and sufficient electability.
