All day today we are covering speakers and panels at the 34th Annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, DC. This morning, we'll hear from Republican presidential hopeful former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. He will be followed by Reps. Scott Garrett (NJ), Tom Tancredo (CO), and others.

There will be no Constitution left if the Nation is protected.
We are dealing with an enemy which predates the Constitution by over 1100 years. It will shove the Constitution down your throat before beheading you.
We know that any Republican will keep after our enemies far better than any Democrat. We may not like the nominee best but that will still be true. Primary votes are the best time to try and influence the direction which is why I hope Duncan Hunter does well.
To me the War on Terror dwarfs all other issues which is why no democrat can be allowed to take the Presidency. The next issue for me is the Court appointees since at least two will be there within the next few years maybe more. If democrats get to dictate two more justices stalemate will remain.

Time for a gut check conservatives.
While it appears on this forum that if one supports Rudy they are some sort of treasonous liberal, however, on the other hand if one opposes Rudy then one is casting a vote for Hitlery.
Here's the real bottom line: (and F#@K all of you "realpolitick" hacks - you've brought us to the abyss)
Is the litmus test to be a loyal Republican that one votes for the anointed candidate regardless of the effect on one's conscience; or should the litmus test be that a true Republican votes their conscience regardless of the effect on the Party's anointed candidate?

That's what they don't understand...no matter HOW MANY TIMES they are informed of this.
Then I made my second mistake of the day. I stopped by to see how FR was doing (change is possible). The anti-Rudy threads are like watching the Anna Nicole Smith funeral.
I'll bet you are going to claim Hunter was fantastic aren't you? Brownback was saying all the right things you should have loved him.
Quite an inspiring speech well-received. A confirmation that the successful leader inspires and draws support.
A great performance--without notes--and that's the Rudy I would have expected.
A grasp of detail, ability to think and speak on his feet as it were, and motivated--mo ti va ted.

I'm the guy he quoted and no I wasn't in the wrong room, I was at the conference all day and I was sitting in the front row of seats (behind the tables) when Rudy spoke. It didn't get over, believe me. He got a nice ovation when he came in and when he left from the entire room including myself. Everyone was very respectful towards him and of course he got applause from a lot of people, again including myself, when he talked about cutting taxes and getting rid of welfare. I spent most of the time I wasn't listening to speeches talking to people there, and I also went to the bar for a few hours and talked to people, and I'm telling you he didn't sell himself onto anyone there.
These are the impressions I got from the people I talked to all day about the other candidates after their speeches: Hunter - Very well respected and liked, but people don't see him as having a shot. Huckabee - A lot of people were hearing from him for the first time and they were very impressed. There was a huge rush to go to his book signing after the speech and Huckabee stickers were popping up on people throughout the afternoon. Tancredo - People love him on the border issue and enjoyed the speech but don't see him as a viable candidate. Brownback - Gave a speech that was about as expected for him but people liked it. Not too many were excited enough about it to jump to actually support his campaign though. Romney - Speech went over very well. A lot of people told me they were willing to get past the flip-flop issue if he consistently gives conservative speeches like he did today. Coulter's comment about him fooling liberals in Mass. also had a lot of people thinking.
Again with Rudy's speech, more than a few people said it was "boring" and a lot of people didn't like the fact that he didn't really talk policy at all. That's just what I heard from people. I don't support Rudy in the race, but if people loved the speech, I would come on and tell everyone that as well. Also keep in mind that the front area, the tables,are filled with mostly people who are 50+ that paid a good bit of money to be here while the middle and back is 95% college students or other younger people. Also Tancredo, Romney, and Brownback had large presences here in terms of campaign workers/volunteers. I don't have the disdain for Rudy that some on here have, but I just don't think he's going to win over conservatives.
One was claiming the audience at this event was "college students" because they gave Rudy such an enthusiastic response. To hear them tell it Giuliani is totally talentless barely able to tie his shoes. He never did anything good, positive, has never helped the party.
The delusions are remarkable.

Isn't it funny how different people can see the same event and come away with totally opposite opinions.
