Then you obviously need to get out more.

Your guy had a bad day. The Fred Thompson trial balloon showed clearly that Giuliani's support is a mile wide and an inch deep. Cooler heads in the GOP are figuring out what an electoral disaster-in-waiting Rooty is.

For starters, the definition of conservative is: con·ser·va·tive (kn-sûrv-tv)
adj.
1. Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change.

or
1. disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change.

That's exactly what I want.

"but I'm sick and tired of people disqualifying him for President because he slept on a couch at the townhouse of a friend who happened to be gay. "

I haven't even heard this. I couldn't care less about that. He is not conservative enough for me. What do you want me to say? I'm holding out for better. There's still time! I don't hate the man or anything like that. He was wonderful during 9/11 and I have great admiration for him. I just want someone better. Someone that stands for what I want. Not middle of the road.

You do realize that I was just quoting Jim Robinson, don't you?

Your guy stunk up the place, too. Romney's the only candidate that could make Giuliani look sincere by comparison.

I didn't catch Brownback. I just caught the tail end of Huckabee.

You didn't miss anything. Brownback held up 2 Encyclopedia Britanicas as a prop and said nothing. The Huckster should have been addressing a Jenny Craig meeting, not CPAC.

From another thread:

You're right about Rudy's speech. It was boring and it didn't go over well with the people I talked to in the room, and that was mostly the college students. I didn't hear one person say that Rudy had won them over or that they would vote for him. Compare that to Huckabee, Brownback, and Romney who all gave conservative speeches and left the people in the room impressed because at least they were TRYING to appeal to conservatives. Hunter and Tancredo got great receptions as well which was expected since they had the respect of the people in the room before they started talking. Rudy was the only candidate whose speech fell flat.

I'm sorry, I didn't hear Brownback or Romney, but I ~heard~ the response that Huckabee got and the response that Rudy got.

If that poster thinks the speech feel flat, then they were in the wrong room.

What you and others fail to see is Rudy doesnt pander, he knew everyone in that room is aware of his positions on social issues. He spoke on issues that are also important to conservatives not just social conservatives, and contrary to what you wish to believe he connected on those issues.

Geez, you talk about Jim Robinson as if he runs FR. (hold on a second, my advisors are whispering into my earpiece...uh, huh, oh ok, uh huh...ok gotcha). Upon further review there has been a reversal, it seems you are right and Jim actually does run the place.

Look, I'm holding out for something better too. I hope Newt runs. I'll donate a thousand bucks and my time to him. But like I said, other than the 2,323 references to Ronald Reagan, I thought Rudy's speech was great. He certainly sounded like a right wing, free market, limited government proponent to me. Obviously, this is all a leap of faith for all of us. Maybe he becomes President and is every Conservatives worst nightmare. I don't know. You never know. Reagan nominated Sandra Day O'Connor. Time will tell.

Way to go Jim!!   What's the rush anyway, and speaking of "rush",  Rush Lim-Bow hasn't endorsed anyone to date.  It's just too early.   Many republicans fail to realize that the republican party is the party of life, it's pro-life, pro-family and pro, traditional marriage.  Feminism is not in God's plan.  Men and woman were made different with different roles to play in society and to raise a family. God should be worshipped, not the earth.  We have a right to defend: ourselves, property and family.  The current congress was not fiscally conservative, the money was spent faster than it came in.  A social liberal is also a fiscal liberal.  Congress still funds planned parenthood with Title X money, much more than Clinton administration.   Where are the real republicans anyway?

Okay, that was funny! :o)

I didn't catch the speeches. I'll have to read transcripts later. I'm not basing my judgement of Rudy on his speech tonight. Just things I've read/heard. I couldn't even give you any links. Mostly because I'm tired and lazy! I imagine if he is my choice come next November I'd plug my nose and vote for him. I'm just praying really hard that Hunter or someone will "WOW" us and surge ahead.

At least I have the decency to address you when I'm talking to you, instead of this grade school girl game you seem to be playing.
