McCain announces on Letterman tonight he is running for President, says source that sat through the taping... He was sitting in the chair when he told Dave and the audience. He was wildly applauded.... MORE...
Actually, that question never made it to Newt. Cuomo answered it, but by the time the question got over to the other side, Russert re-phrased it and asked for a general assessment of the candidates. Newt said the only honest assessment at this point, based on the polls, was that the race was coming down to the two New Yorkers.
Hard to argue with him right now with Giuliani holding a 20 point edge over his closest competitor. But I think Newt realizes he has the potential to change the race dramatically. Cuomo certainly said as much.
I still don't know if he can win, but he has the ability to elevate the entire Republican field. He makes everyone a better candidate. And if the Democrats are on the other side acting like Democrats, they'll end up looking very small by comparison.
I am amazed at the graphics. I assume that you replaced Bogart's face with that of McCain's.
Even if it means Hillary.
Whoaaa there, pardner...come again?
What's really interesting about that poll is how much better Gingrich does among non-members than members. I'm not sure what it means, but it's interesting.
Stupid human tricks.
Two peas in a pod.
How bloody exciting.
"How many times do I have to say I'll sit out if he is the nominee...."
Don't do that. Not voting has negative consequences. Look at the sh*t we're in now. I agree with you, we do not have much choice. But I think that a gutless invertebrate is preferable over a nasty invertebrate. Sad that we have arrived at this sorry state of affairs.
Just the fact that he chose to announce on Letterman is troubling, as well as telling.
He should have saved what little dignity he had and not do this.
"He has a great resume'.."
McCain is a prime example of what has become of a once honorable man when infected by political overambition.
If the race is between McCain and Hillary, I vote third party. That is how much I loathe McCain.
How sad he did it this way. I almost feel sorry for what he has become.
It really is. But I don't think McCain will make it far at all. He is a pariah in the Republican party.
Giuliani/McCain '08! "
Giuliani/McCain '08=I change my registration to independent.
I'll not vote for him. Not in primary and not in general.
Seconded. McCain is the only primary candidate I feel strongly about at this point...strongly negative.
Ho Hum
