A Taliban suicide bomber killed up to 12 people at the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan on Tuesday in an attack the rebels said was aimed at Dick Cheney, but the visiting U.S. vice president was not hurt.

“We wanted to target … Cheney,” Taliban spokesman Mullah Hayat Khan told Reuters by phone from an undisclosed location.

Targeting an American Leader, the Liberal Left over at The Huffington Post are celebrating the attempt on the life of Cheney and trumpeting their disappointment over the failure of the Islamic Terrorists to kill Cheney.

That kind of crap is unacceptable. I didn't like Bill Clinton, but I never for one minute wished for his assassination. He was the president of my country and I would have wanted to punish any country or group that made an attempt on his life.

Amen... I wanted the man embarrassed, impeached, removed from office, and hopefully imprisoned... but if some a**hole terrorist tried to assassinate him, I'd be in favor of the full Jack Bauer treatment for said terrorist and his sponsors.

The hopes of the leftists is that with Cheyney out of the way, Congress will impeach Bush. I recall chatting with someone who was angry that Air Force Two didn't crash in the Atlantic, killing Cheyney. I pointed out 25 other people were on that aircraft as well. Did he want the deaths of 25 others to get rid of a man who will be gone in 2009? He did. He suggested the plane could be crashed so only Cheyney was killed.

Sigh... What a sad, bitter man.

Yet this is the first sentence of the article under that heading: A suicide bomber attacked the entrance to the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan Tuesday during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney, killing at least 14 people and wounding a dozen more.

Now how hard is it really to get the heading to ocincide with the article?.
