Is it possible that George Bush is a secret Green? Evidently his Crawford Winter White House has 25,000 gallons of rainwater storage, gray water collection from sinks and showers for irrigation, passive solar, geothermal heating and cooling. By marketplace standards, the house is startlingly small, says David Heymann, the architect of the 4,000-square-foot home. "Clients of similar ilk are building 16-to-20,000-square-foot houses." Furthermore for thermal mass the walls are clad in "discards of a local stone called Leuders limestone, which is quarried in the area. The 12-to-18-inch-thick stone has a mix of colors on the top and bottom, with a cream-colored center that most people want. They cut the top and bottom of it off because nobody really wants it, Heymann says. So we bought all this throwaway stone. Its fabulous. Its got great color and it is relatively inexpensive.
BTTT
Gore who?
Hypocrits such as Gore and Edwards only talk green. They build big old nasty carbon-gobbling estates to live in.
The yin and yan of threads.
You made my day!
Yep, Bush understands that a home is a place to live, his children are grown, he and Laura don't need a palace.
AN INCONVENIENT UTILITY BILL: "Gores mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES). . . . The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWhmore than 20 times the national average. Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWhguzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gores average monthly electric bill topped $1,359."

Yep. Contrast that with this: Gore's House Energy Costs: 20 Times Average
The contrast is stunning. But if you were to ask someone on the street (just about anyone) which person lived in the "green" house and which one lived in the energy wasting house, I'll bet most would pick Gore for living green, and the President for wasting energy.
When one compares the modesty of the Bush TX residence to the opulence of the Gore or Edward estate I can't help but wonder if that is in correlation to the size of the egos.
Then again President Bush takes up considerably less space than Algore. Algore probably needs a 10 foot wide double front door just to get his fat ass into his house.
You are onto something.
From the article, I'm guessing GWB's house uses 1/2 as much energy as the average home. With Gore coming in at 20x, that makes GWB 40 times more efficient/green than Gore - amazing.
they have a picture of the 'old house' up not the new one!
Gee I wonder if cindy sheehags "peace house" in crawford was ecofriendly
And I'll bet he doesn't need a heated and air-conditioned stroll to the horsebarn, either
He is alot more green than algore but he doesn't run around telling everyone.
algore is a tool.
IIRC, the Breck Girl's barn is actually a state-of-the-art gym with a basketball court.
