Those NVA regiments had the LZs zeroed in and they were 'hot'. It took uncommon valor to go in again and again.
God Blesses the United States armed forces with men like Major Crandall.

God bless him for his service to our Country.
My thanks to all here who have put on a uniform in service to our Country.
Washington State Ping....I understand this hero was from Bremerton, WA
Long may you run, Mr Bruce Crandall. You exemplify heroism and sacrifice. You are 1000 times the hero that frauds like John Kerry are.
Bump and ping!
Thank you LCOL Crandall!
Wow. Just wow.
First, Congratulations to LCOL Crandall on his earning the Medal of Honor. Serving like he did took uncommon courage.
While not to diminish his actions, I can not help but wonder that if a movie had not been made about him if he would have received the Medal? Thoughts anyone?
amazing, I just re-watched the movie "we were soldiers" last night. some powerful moments in that movie.

As they read out loud the description of why he received his medal, the word picture was so outstanding & clear, I could understand perfectly why his valor encouraged the other pilots to press on and not give up.
It was awesome!
And a very humble man.....
..when first pressed to receive this, he passed and requested it go to the other guy with him that day.
But now it's his turn!
Just happened to see the presentation on CSPAN today. President Bush's remarks were moving, as was the prayer at the end of the presentation ceremony.
This guy gets better by the second. I had inquired here on Free Republic as to why he had to wait 40 years to receive this medal. On today's news I learned that he was offered the medal, but refused because he wanted it to go to his co-pilot. America will always survive because of men like LCOL Crandall! God Bless America and God Bless our military - THE BEST OF AMERICA.
I am Bruce Crandall’s youngest grandaughter and I really appreciated reading what everyone had to say. I’ve always thought that my grandfather is wonderful, and it’s nice to know that others agree.
