Schwarzenegger Wants Iraq Withdrawal

Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger has aligned himself with Democrats in calling on the Bush administration to set a clear timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq.

Speaking on CBS’s "Face the Nation,” on Sunday, the California governor said Americans won’t support a war that involves an open-ended commitment and threatens to become a Vietnam-like quagmire.

"We should let the Iraqis know that we are here until this time, and then we’re going to draw back,” Schwarzenegger said. "We’re going to draw our troops out of Iraq. I think a timeline is absolutely important because I think that the people in America don’t want to see another Korean war, another Vietnam war, where it’s an open-ended thing.”

Most Democrats have voiced support for a timetable for withdrawal, and some have even set a specific date, notes Peter Nicholas of the Los Angeles Times.

Sen. Barack Obama has introduced legislation requiring all combat troops to be out of Iraq by March 2008, and another presidential candidate, Sen. Hillary Clinton, recently called for removing some troops within 90 days. Former Sen. John Edwards wants an immediate withdrawal of 50,000 troops.

Sorry, but what exactly does Arnie have to do with the US Military (and I'm not talking about film roles)?

He can't run for president, so he should worry about his state's myriad problems and butt out.

There can be no timetable when the mission is mission creep. Mission creep means never having to say troops can come home.

Here is the timetable they so seek. The INSTANT that there is no carbombing, no suicide bombings and no IED bombings for 180 consecutive days.

There, now they have to look to the muslim zealots blowing people up in the name of ALLAH for their treasured ending date.

Of course Red Arnold IS a liberal! All this talk of him being a "centrist" is BS for media consumption. Does he sound like a centrist or conservative to you? Not in my book!
