New York: Targeted By Tehran?

Increasing tensions between Washington and Tehran have revived New York Police Department concerns that Iranian agents may already have targeted the city for terror attacks. Such attacks could be aimed at bridges and tunnels, Jewish organizations and Wall Street, NYPD briefers told security execs last fall, according to a person with access to the briefing materials who asked for anonymity because of the sensitive subject matter.
NYPD officials have worried about possible Iranian-sponsored attacks since a series of incidents involving officials of the Iranian Mission to the United Nations. In November 2003, Ahmad Safari and Alireaza Safi, described as Iranian Mission "security" personnel, were detained by transit cops when they were seen videotaping subway tracks from Queens to Manhattan at 1:10 in the morning. The men later left New York. "We're concerned that Iranian agents were engaged in reconnaissance that might be used in an attack against New York City at some future date," Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly told NEWSWEEK. A spokesman for the Iranian Mission in New York said he was aware of the allegations but had no immediate comment.

I love my state, but we excel at shooting ourselves in the feet. Sigh.

I'm of the informed belief that there might be a lot of truth as to this.
The "chatter" (for lack of a better word) is definately on the increase in the last few weeks.

Yep- let's keep inviting them to our country with open arms, passing all kinds of laws that protect terrorists while binding the hands of law enforcement, encouraging terrorists by allowing ilk like kerry carter nelson to go over seas and bad mouth our country- then we can all stand around in astonishment when iran attacks us 'unawares'

No. The UN needs to be relocated into a rebuilt World Trade Center, exactly like the first one, with the offices of Middle Eastern countries near the top of one tower (except Israel), the offices of East Asian communist nations (include China) near the top of the other tower, and the General Assembly room and the Security Council room occupying the top of one tower each.

...sufficient excuse to have an all out war with them... Yeah. Just like with the "Gulf of Tonkin" or "Maine" incidents.

Iran just tested their first space launch. Once you can put a nuke in orbit, the targeting of most locations on earth is not particularly complicated. The Chinese could never get into space until the treasonous Clinton administration gave them access to the necessary ring gyros to stabilize the flight. It appears that technology has been propagated to Iran.

An attack on New York would be a sufficient excuse to have an all out war with them, I'd say.Their involvement in the attacks on our service personnel are enough for me.

Track Bill and Hill. If they are in or near NYC, all is safe.

Why would they attack such a close ally?

Gee, I wonder how these Iranian agents got into the U.S. Maybe on one of those Mexico trucks going cross country!

Track Bill and Hill. If they are in or near NYC, all is safe. Well, that suggests a foolproof defense strategy. Just figure out how to keep Slick in his Harlem office permanently.
Wonder if I could get a research grant to "study" this problem?

Iran is saying it will stike us only if we attack them first. I guess we will see who strikes first?

The American populace would be vigorous and willing to take part in the sacrifices necessary to fight and win a war if the administration made the case for civilan sacrifice like a war tax, compulsory military service, increased manufacturing for military equipment, repeal the tax cut gift to those who don't need it, and palce the nation on a war footing. As a retired three star general said recently: ''The United States is not at war, the Army and the Marine Corps are at war, but no one else.'' Meanwhile, the president and DoD have cut production funds for basic ground-pounder equipment, emplaced a rotation policy for the few troops we have there that is counter-productive and has never yet employed tough actions to accompany his often tough, but empty, rhetoric. It's not the American people who bear the weight of the fault here, it's the incompetent in the White House.

Provide a secret cubby hole, free cigars and a sink. Do ya think that's too obvious for me to apply for the research grant anyway? I mean, stranger things have happened....

Not a doom & gloomer or anything like that but I am of the informed opinion that 9|11 and this thing with the Iranians is only a shadow of things to come...I do not believe that New York City is going to make it through the WOT.
