New York: Targeted By Tehran?

Increasing tensions between Washington and Tehran have revived New York Police Department concerns that Iranian agents may already have targeted the city for terror attacks. Such attacks could be aimed at bridges and tunnels, Jewish organizations and Wall Street, NYPD briefers told security execs last fall, according to a person with access to the briefing materials who asked for anonymity because of the sensitive subject matter.
NYPD officials have worried about possible Iranian-sponsored attacks since a series of incidents involving officials of the Iranian Mission to the United Nations. In November 2003, Ahmad Safari and Alireaza Safi, described as Iranian Mission "security" personnel, were detained by transit cops when they were seen videotaping subway tracks from Queens to Manhattan at 1:10 in the morning. The men later left New York. "We're concerned that Iranian agents were engaged in reconnaissance that might be used in an attack against New York City at some future date," Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly told NEWSWEEK. A spokesman for the Iranian Mission in New York said he was aware of the allegations but had no immediate comment.

An attack on New York would be a sufficient excuse to have an all out war with them, I'd say.

After NYC becomes a smoking crater, we may see the War Against Terror in a new way ("We" meaning most Americans, not freepers).
But I think it may take more than 1 American city for some folks to wake up.

Aside from Freepers from NY, I suspect the reaction to such an attack would be to call for group hugs and additional verses of Kumbayah.

You can cover for them all you want DBM... but they want you sprouting fallout tumors just as much as us run-of-the-mill infidels.

As part of the diplomatic mission to the UN no doubt. I think their visas allow them to travel within some prescribed radius of the UN mission - but you can image how hard that is to enforce.

No matter how they got in, I'm sure they were issued driver's licenses, and BofA credit cards, and SSI benefits immediately upon arrival.

I feel that one more attack inside the USA would call for an immediate police state. Libs be damned. And then we should drop the big one.

Hillary will blame Bush...
Actually she'll blame Bush and American arrogance.
By liberal standards, if my neighbor siphons gas out of my truck I have the right to rape and behead his daughter, then kick his door open and blow myself up in his living room killing the rest of the family.

Hey no big deal, after the attack the MSM will say all the evidence is "circumstantial" and the Bush administration can announce there are no plans to attack Iran. That should fix it. So some Americans die on our own soil, let's not do anything rash.

"IF" it happens? I think that they are hoping to do it. They know that the US media will blame it on Bush. Even 5 years after Bush is out of office.

The UN needs to be removed from U.S. soil and relocated to a Third World country, preferably an island.

Gee, I wonder how these Iranian agents got into the U.S.
"Lets put a clear deal on the table: full diplomatic relations, security guarantees and thousands of student visas if Iran puts its nuclear program under U.N. inspection and stops supporting terrorism. If not: more sanctions and isolation. Such an offer would at least get us some leverage, unite us more with our allies outside Iran, energize our allies inside Iran and force some excruciating choices on Irans leaders."
Who would be the 'patriotic' American saying such a thing? Why, THOMAS FRIEDMAN of course.

And don't forget, much of the media has insisted that we over-reacted last time, so maybe if NY is hit again, we should all just return to our teevee shows and put it out of our minds. (MSM, I suspect, would have a very different take on this if they were targets....)

The fear here is more a reaction to a strike on Iran's nukes than on a Hezzie first strike ... but I could be wrong. NYC will always be a target.
